Your reference website mentions booming guides and guides with water, but what if you plan to boom with water? Especially on maps like 4 lakes where you may have enough time to fish unmolested. In general, if I want to fast castle with fish, how many ships do I need? Even if it's just to mostly get me to castle? Would sending most of your vils to wood and spamming ships and fish traps allow you something similar to 4tc 27 pop?

There's not really a standard water FC build order, since it depends a lot on how much fish there is, how dense the fish distribution is (so how long before your ships are travelling a long way, or you need more docks) and how safe your fish are. I'd say its always worth going for the first 4 ships - but you could go for much more if you are sure you won't lose them.

@@cicero8676 I see. That's why I mentioned maps where you can either fish in the back for a while or have usually one of the four lakes safe as long as you can scout and wall. By the way, would you say that Celts could do 26+2 4 TC boom? Or is that pushing it? I imagine with more tc's and farms needed their bonus should be actually fairly relevant from the get go

@@zachariastsampasidis8880 Yes with safe fish you can go pretty heavy on wood and make more ships. I don't have exact numbers - it depends on how much you need to wall, how much wood you plan to need when you hit castle. (Straight 4TC is really something you only do on closed maps like arena btw - on 4 lakes I'd expect at least 1 stable or something for pocket.) Celts can definitely do 26+2 4TC, as could several other civs.

@@cicero8676 I think in four lakes or team islands you can afford to have 20 like ships, even with one dock as long as it keeps producing non stop for a long while. One last thing: is it generally better to sell stone and then mine it back later or just send 3 on gold and buy the stone and some additional food and wood when you are going 4tc arena style? I personally found that having the gold allows me to buy some extra food or wood to ensure instant TCs and food-wood upgrades.

@@zachariastsampasidis8880 With 20 ships I'd definitely want more docks. You have to be careful with that many though - you could easily lose them all on team islands, and villagers are often better long term - main advantage of fishing ships over villagers is you have to wait till castle age to make more TCs. For straight 4tc mining+selling stone is considered better - it's a better trade at the market, and you don't really need to buy food unlike with the earlier 3tc.
