Turlough O'Carolan's (1670-1738) Farewell to Music is said to be the last work he composed, and the story goes that at the end of his life he returned to the house of his patrons, the McDermott Roe family, and played this piece before going to his deathbed.
This arrangement is a musical reflection on Carolan's original material, and is concerned with the expression of loss and it is dedicated to my friend Leon Tourtzevitch.
