It's a pretty handy jig if you want to make decorative table legs.

I think you should revisit this and build a CNC version.
@WoodsmithShowandmagazine4 жыл бұрын
I think that is a good idea... the gears would be really easy to cut out on the CNC.
@scotttovey4 жыл бұрын
@@WoodsmithShowandmagazine You could actually cut all the parts out with the CNC. But the real point is that you could increase the number of designs with a CNC version.

the flange ball bearing that you have in the plans does it have to be flush with sides of the machine like the carriage threaded rail and the the drive pin shaft? because I am finding hard to locate these flanges the only one I can come across is the machine type flanges on wish and the other is a round flange ball bearing but it hard to get the other sizes I need to complete this machine.

the router bits for doing other patterns for the different leg patterns can you make a list of the different open ended bits I would need please. I have a 1/2 inch router which can also take 1/4 inch bits.

I just finished mine today. Could you tell me the bit sizes. They are not in the plans
@WoodsmithShowandmagazine4 жыл бұрын
It looks like the bit the bits on page 10 are a 1" dia. core box bit or fluting bit like this: amzn.to/2yYTqov and a vertical raised panel bit like this one: amzn.to/2KK8jhg On page 11, it looks like a they are using a bowl bit, similar to this one: amzn.to/35f8cUk On page 12, the fluting is done with a 1/2" Core Box Bit: amzn.to/3aHnFh6 and the spiral can be cut with a bit like this: amzn.to/3bSHROo since you are just using the tip.

What is the maximum diameter and length of work that can be completed if built to the plans?
@mavenfeliciano1710 Жыл бұрын
Built to plans, I believe 40” for length if you don’t cut off the ends with the holes where the pins hold the piece, and just under 11” square stock (11” minus an 1/8 or more for unobstructed clearance) for non tapered. If it’s being tapered, I suppose you could have a piece that is just under 11” on one end and larger on the other end. The tail end would be raised so it can be larger.
@mavenfeliciano1710 Жыл бұрын
Sorry, my math was wrong. The hypotenuse would be 11”, which doing the Pythagoras theorem (a^2 + b^2 = c^2) calculations we get a square stock of about 7 3/4.
@baustin11111Ай бұрын
@@mavenfeliciano1710 You were right the first time. The center of the drive shaft is about 5.75" off the base, so 11.5" would be the max cylinder size it could handle per the design. There may be a limitation for how high the router goes, but I haven't built it yet - hopefully I'll be able to get back to you soon with an update
