My EC9 looks identical to yours, and the nine black knobs on mine are not continuous, they are pots with about 270 degrees of rotation. The silver knob is the only continuous one.

HI! I am starting my home production studio with a Kawai K4 Synth and I was wondering if by connecting a modern controller via MIDI I can add buttons and sliders to modyfy the sounds in my synth. Here you talked about many ways to breathe new life into these old keys, but didn´t mention this one, so I was wondering if it is possible at all. Best.

Yes! You can map the encoders and faders of the EasyControl 9 to modify your synth.

How would I go about doing this set up? 1.) I have an Alesis Q88 controller only that I want to use for recording the software sounds only. 2.) I then want to hook up a Yamaha csx6, Korg Karma, Roland XP 10 and use all symotanaously in my recordings so when playing back in a project I can use the sounds in these classic keyboards

@@jmaikisch you’ll need a usb midi hub to connect all those keyboards. I have an old eMagic MT4, but there are lots on Amazon. Which DAW are you using?

How assign the x-fafer to blend between different scenes?
@JeffyG5 ай бұрын
@@kisho2679 Hmmmm….’blend’ sounds challenging. You’d want to lower midi volume on one while increasing midi volume on the other, and have it dynamic enough to determine which 2 patches or tracks. It’s far beyond my capabilities.

If i cant find a driver how so do i make it work?

What computer are you connecting to? And are the settings of the RD600 set to a certain transmit midi channel?

Hi there, enjoyed your 'Turn any OLD Keyboard into a Modern Midi Controller'. However, I'm wondering if you could start from the basics (channels, ports, strips, etc)? I have an old Roland A-300PRO which I have successfully connected to MainStage on my new iMac using (as you suggested) a Roland UM-ONE MK2 USB Midi Interface. Fortunately for me, MainStage recognises the A-300PRO and, through trial & error I have been able to set it up as a lefthand keyboard bass. The problem arrises when I try to connect my (even older) Technics SX-P30 88-key keyboard to MainStage as a second keyboard! As an interface, I'm using a new iCON Cube Mi5 - 5-in/5-out USB Midi Interface which MainStage recognises, but not the SX-P30, so it seems I have to do all the work myself. I've watched tutorial after tutorial on KZbin and read the MainStage manual to now avail. Unfortunately, when I try to give the SX-P30 its own individual sound (Patch?) both keyboards, including the already set up A-300PRO change to that new sound. FYI, my iMac is connected via the headphones port to a ProFX8 desk and speakers. Could you give me a sep-by-step tutorial on setting up the SX-P30? BTW, I've ordered a Worlde Easycontrol 9 but, being in Australia it's going to take weeks to get here! Thanks JeffyG, Cobby54
@JeffyG9 ай бұрын
Yikes! Do you have the manual for the SX-P30? Sounds like the patch controls are using the same midi channel on the A-300Pro and the SX-P30. The midi transmit usually defaults to midi channel #1. One of the two keyboards need to be assigned to a different midi transmit channel, like channel #2. But that might not be configurable.

@@JeffyG Thanks for getting back to me. I have found the SX-P30 manual online which has been a little bit of help. As such, I have been successful in connecting the SX-P30 (Midi Channel 1) via the Roland UM-ONE Interface to MainStage. Unfortunately, I can no longer get a sound out of the A-300Pro (using Midi Channel 2), although the keys move on the screen when I play the A-300Pro. And again, neither keyboard works independently when I change patches/instrument sounds. What am I doing wrong or missing? Does this sound like a Mac problem or a Midi problem? Not too sure what to do with the channel strips, either...

@@cobby54 best we chat online. Do you use FB Messenger, Skype, Zoom?

@@JeffyG Thanks to your motivation and my perseverance, I’ve had considerable success - no thanks to the MainStage manual though! Its taken me two weeks of trial and error, viewing many different KZbin videos, all of which (unfortunately) assume a basic knowledge of audio midi setup. For me it was, and still is, a zero understanding of MainStage’s Channel Strips. So I opened a new MainStage file and chose the Two Keyboard template as Mainstage does all the Channel Strip creation. Fortunately, the Help Box at the bottom left of the Edit screen was there to explain each Channel Strip button. The Setting button underneath the Expression 127 circle is what I eventually found and pressed. And BEHOLD! there were all the instrument patches for each individual keyboard. Having assigned each keyboard (midi channel, number of keys, etc) in the Layout screen, which I have done sooo many times these past two weeks, all I needed to do was turn on the sound system and play. So, a BIG thank you to you JeffyG for your patience. If not for your video and a few pointers, I’d have given up ages ago! Cheers for now…

@@cobby54 Glad to hear! I had to use a midi monitor called "MidiView" on my Mac to capture the midi messages sent from my keyboard, before I could figure out what Mainstage was receiving. Only then did I see how program/bank/patch information mapped to MainStage. I'm about to do a 2 midi controller setup with Mainstage, as I got an old Axiom 25 for $40. I plan to use my Roland A33 (76 key) as the main controller, plus to Axiom 25 for lead parts - at the same time. I've had 2 controllers connected to MainStage before, but they over-lapped midi messages and it was confusing. Once I get this working, I'll create a video.
