No Wonder in Season 2...... (Spoiler) ......she can look into Morrigan's eyes AND fight an Alien Eldritch God at the same time without going mad. Elias is kind of a failed project, a fae turn wrong or a human trying to become fae, nobody actually knows. But yeah, he was alive when Cartaphilus was cursed, so he is actually older than Joseph.

Cartaphilus is a name given to an old myth. The origin of Cartaphilus dates back to biblical times. In the Bible, Cartaphilus was a Jew who made fun of Jesus while he was carrying his giant Cross. Jesus then punished Cartaphilus with an indefinite lifespan, stating that he shall know the taste of death when The Son of Man returns to the Earth, The Second Coming. Interesting enough, sightings of Cartaphilus, or rather, someone similar, have been written down. A given Example would be How an Armenian Archbishop from the year 1228 was asked by a St. Alban Abbey’s monk if he new the rumors about a man know as “Joseph of Arimathea” who spoke to Jesus and is reportedly still alive. The Armenian Archbishop said that the man does exist, for which the archbishop spoke with him, and that his name is Cartaphilus, a Jewish Shoemaker. There’s even been sightings of Cartaphilus in the 18th and 19th century. But I dismiss those sightings because at that time people must have grown a sense of humor and thought to themselves “Let’s prank people by imitating a person from a biblical reference”.

Oh I also hate how the anime cuts a part out from the manga. You know when Lindel us telling the story of how he and Elias met and all? Well, when he mentions how there were some mages with the gift to live forever, Chise thought to herself "maybe that's why..." and felt her wounded shoulder from this episode! This may be why she survived! She could live for as long as Elias and nobody knows it! Unless somethings already been stated in the manga or anime that stated something different. IDK I haven't read all the manga.

Hard to say... Elias has more raw physical strength, but Cartaphilus is immortal. It would probably end in a draw.

That seems to be a bit of an incomplete assessment. Cartaphilus seems to have implied some kind of monstrous form (with his hand and the tentacles in his eye), so he might be able to match Elias in strength if he were to get serious. Another mystery variable is their respective magic. Elias has used magic for a lot of purposes, but rarely for combat. We know he can create a shadow shield and thorny vines, but it's entirely possible he would be capable of more than that if he were to become furious enough. We know even less about Cartaphilus' alchemy and how it applies to combat. His specialty is chimera creation, but I wonder whether that's the extent of his power or whether he's just holding back his full power. It would be completely in character for him to toy with his enemies.
