Scott’s halts crabgrass preventer is a weed preventer , weed and feeds kills weeds and feeds but must be applied to wet grass. Halts has prodiamine in it which is the yellow coating on the fertilizer that is premergent .

Sorry this comment didn't come through earlier (was hung up for some reason). Did i mispeak something in the video (if so please tell me where) so I understand what you are meaning?
@JealousLawnCare4 жыл бұрын
Weed and feed is a pre emergent for weeds, you don't want to use it after the weeds are already showing or it's too late.

Mike you are the best in your lawn care. A big thank you, loving my lawn. In just 2 months, mu lawn went from dirt I a few areas to plush green. With your lawn schedule you gave me and milorganite, lime, my lawn looks great. I wish I can apply pictures on here for all to see.

@@JealousLawnCare question. Should I put down the 2nd round of the weed and feed (yellow bag) 30 days after I overseed and start fertilizer? and if the answer is yes, can I also put down grub control? I'm als8 gonna put down milorganite. This would be on or after May 20, that's 30 days after I overseeded
@JealousLawnCare5 жыл бұрын
Yolanda Gomez -- yep 30 days after overseeding is enough time. You can put down all those products afterwards no problem

@@JealousLawnCare now with the moss, how often and what's the waiting time between applications can I put lime down?. Or is it better to do it in the fall?
@JealousLawnCare5 жыл бұрын
Yolanda Gomez --- unfortunately I'm not too experienced with moss in yards. I known lime takes a while to release / change the soil acidity. This is why lime is usually done in the fall.

took your advice last year and put the milo down twice ( early winter and late winter ). grass is actually greener even though the temps at night are still cool. will do one more mid may and give it a rest through the summer. i have been buying milo in advance, it was hard to get on short notice last year. let's start striping!!!!!!!!
@JealousLawnCare5 жыл бұрын
james ludan -- great to hear your lawn is looking better already with that Milorganite application! I know it's not easy with your size lawn either...its a much bigger commitment.

@@JealousLawnCare I'm glad to hear about the milorganite. I'm definitely gonna over use it this year. I'm already starting my before and after shots and will continue. Looking forward to all your videos this year, I'm already a fan; your personality is the best. I have been following your advice for a while now and more so this year because I fired my lawn company and doing it myself with your help. Thank you very much Mike, looking forward to more :)

When is the best time to put down the weed and feed and milorganite? And do you put them down separately?
@JealousLawnCare3 жыл бұрын
You can put Milorganite down with weed and feed or pretty much any other product since it's slow release. It's best to use it when soil temperature reaches 50 degrees early spring. Then again late spring I recommend

Have you ever tried those aeration spike things you strap onto your shoes? They are like 20 bucks on Amazon and I am considering those or renting a machine? Are basic holes in the ground good or do I need to pull out plugs of soil? Also any tips on flea control in your grass. We love birds and squirrels and for the first time last year we put up 2 bird feeders. The problem was my dog had fleas all summer and this year we are going to have to curtail the bird feeding very sadly.
@JealousLawnCare5 жыл бұрын
Paul FUN -- i don't recommend those aeration spike shoes because they put holes in the ground but don't pull out any soil. This would result in more soil compaction in all surrounding areas of the soil. It's much better to call a local landscaping company or rent the unit from a store and diy. Honestly I haven't had any flea problems but I'm surprised the birds are causing fleas in the area.
@paulfun87205 жыл бұрын
@@JealousLawnCareCare it is the accompanying squirrels eating the bird seed. My backyard was Grand Central Station for squirrels last year. The feeders while squirrel proof can't stop the birds from making a mess underneath and they still attracted them. I don't know how many but lots. These lil bastards are cute but it is the only source of the problem we can think of. We went to great lengths to get rid of them (the fleas) to no avail. I think the fleas jump off the squirrels and breed in the grass.
@JealousLawnCare5 жыл бұрын
Paul FUN -- ahh that could be possible...from the squirrels. Yes I feed squirrels and birds also and love it as well. I changed my feeders last year to be more clean and less mess with small opening feeders that squirrels can't eat out of. I used to use the 5lb holders and like a trough (big opening), which just gets thrown to the ground quickly. By using these smaller hole feeders, I am having less mess and able to separate the squirrels to their own feeders.

Mike, I have a dog that LOVES to run which means her nails by running is digging in.. which is the right grass seed so ican have a great lawn. Shes a pitbull, loves to run. Is the high traffic seed any different from any of the others?
@JealousLawnCare5 жыл бұрын
Yolanda Gomez -- keep using straight Kentucky bluegrass and that will be your best option. Great for traffic and quick healing

hey Mike. I know it's one week early to overseed and starter fert. but I'm anxious, can I put it down this weekend? April 12,13,14
@JealousLawnCare5 жыл бұрын
Yolanda Gomez -- it's recommended to wait at least the 4 weeks before seeding after using pre-emergents. I would definitely wait otherwise you might waste your time most likely
