IMPORTANT UPDATE 2025: Unfortunately, Audio Protect no longer accepting Remixes, you only can use their platform to copyright original music, not remixes. At the time the video was made, it was possible to make remixes, however, this feature is no longer available, and the pricing are different, so only use Audio Protect if you make orginal AI music, and if you have a good budget, as they're only accepting few cleints to offer live chat support. I personally no longer use it as I don't have any songs to copyright, but if you have music, you can go ahead and subscribe.

@Nova-Academy But what's your definition of a remix here though? A remix is literally a re-mix of an original recording. So the proposal here is "create your own cover" right? Your own "new" version of a song. The use of the term remix confuses the issue, I think, unless I missed something. If you stick to the term "cover" and not "remix" there will be less confusion.

Songwriter here. I own the copyright to all the songs I've written, and no-one can perform or record them without my permission (and without paying me a Royalty). This includes tracks generated by AI. So, no, you CANNOT legally monetize AI-powered remixes if you are using the melody and/or the lyrics of a song that was composed by someone else. Whoever told you that this was okay had no idea what they were talking about. The person who writes a song ALWAYS owns the publishing rights to their song (unless they choose to sell that right), and you CANNOT monetize a song you didn't write unless you want to get sued and banned by KZbin (or wherever else you upload them). You are giving people wrong and bad advice here - advice that is going to land them in trouble. People like you make me sick. You want to make money from other people's work, and other people's talents. It doesn't bother you at all that you're robbing people who may have spent years trying to write a hit song (it isn't easy). I wonder how you'd feel if you wrote a song that became successful, and some talentless parasite came along and monetized their own version of it.
@reedmoon3630Ай бұрын
The company says they pay the original artist a royalty, so it's not all going to the person that covers it. That's the part that's missing in this video. Still don't know all the legalities behind all this, but if the original artist and cover artist have an agreement/license in place, I don't see the problem.
@neanderhathal653Ай бұрын
Most importantly if it’s true than why they are not making remixes and making tens of thousands of money themselves instead of trying to make money with videos like this.
@notablemusic1Ай бұрын
"no-one can perform or record them without my permission (and without paying me a Royalty)" this is possibly a misunderstanding. There are two types of copyright 1. The song (owned by songwriter/publisher) 2. The recording (owned by record label/sometimes artist if they're not signed). I think the copyright discussed here - which it doesn't make clear - is the recording. So can anyone perform or record your song without your permission? Well think about it, as in think about all those covers by every cover band ever, all the cover recordings on KZbin, karaoke etc. Do they all seek/get permission first? Unlikely. As the songwriter though you, as long as your song is registered to you/your publishing you 'should' still get paid 'something' for that, if that is someone is paying 'something' to a collection agency. Happy to stand corrected, but as someone with 25 years in and out of the indi music business thats my understanding. What is very definitely wrong about all this is the video says to put your name as songwriter, you can't do that legally if the song is already registered to a.n. other which if its fanmous it obviously would be. And you definitely shouldn't unless youre a total scumbag. So if you can register just the recording copyright, maybe you can get away with this, you can't register the song though that's just nonsense.
@Nova-AcademyАй бұрын
When you copyright a cover song through Content ID, you're only copyrighting the "sound recording", not the "composition" There’s a big difference between soundwaves and melodies! As a remixer, you’re protecting the SOUND you’ve created, NOT the melody, chords, or songwriting. Content ID is specifically designed to generate revenue from sound recordings. On the other hand, organizations like Publishing Companies, ASCAP, and BMI handle composition royalties. By the way, songwriters still earn a percentage of royalties from all remixes and covers of their work. The Orginal Artists ALWAYS get royalites from the Remix/Cover - ALLLWWWAAAYYYSSS!!!
@Nova-AcademyАй бұрын
@@notablemusic1 YES EXACTLY!, in fact we emailed audio protect and they indeed said that Orginal artists get their royalites! its called compostion royalites because they write the song, they get their money from BMI, ASCAP, etc..., while the remixer earn the sound recording royalites using content id via AP.

Yes suno is actually getting sued because people are pulled stuff like this before. That's why they have the warning that you are in full legal control of the song. Though there is a actual way to do this it's a little more expensive and has to be done through the government. Also you have to have contributed something for to be legal. If you wrote the song and suno sung the song you can Copyright. However the courts have already said that nothing AI without any human interference can be considered copyrighted material. As an example if you draw a picture and have AI color it for you it can be copyrighted but if AI made the entire picture he cannot.

I agree with other commenters. In the end , the original copyright owner still has the final say , and executive decision whether or not to allow you some artistic freedom. Also , even when an artist may allow someone artistic freedom of use , the record label will almost always step in and file a takedown claim and copyright claim . One other thing they are allowed to do is to automatically let your video or remix stay on KZbin, but the monetization profits from it will automatically be given to the copyright holder

This only works because distributors like say distrokid or tube core and dsps like KZbin and Spotify have blanket licenses for the music uploaded on their platform only. You still need to purchase a cover license and any other applicable licenses such as mechanicals for each copy (every single stream, download or sale is counted as 1 mechanical or copy) for any use outside of that platform. Cover licensing is provided as a part of those services but can still be purchased independently and is the easiest followed by the mechanicals for an independent artist to obtain by simply buy it from the appropriate licensing entity. AI creations can’t be copyrighted without a substantial amount of human contribution to be determined by the copyright board that exists under the intellectual property board in your country. ContentID is not copyright and does not provide any copyright protection it only serves as identification and protection of content on digital platforms that use it either on their platform strictly or across the web. Copyright is literally a right that humans have to protect the thoughts in our head once they have been moved from your head into the real world in some way that makes them tangible or accessible to others and a song operates similar to how physical property of say a house. You pay an upfront fee and make continuous payments to keep using that property or asset.

From someone in the entertainment industry, I want to caution everyone about the claims made in this video. The idea of remixing copyrighted lyrics into a new genre or style and then claiming it as your own derivative work without proper licensing is illegal and constitutes copyright infringement. What this content creator is suggesting is for someone to create a derivative work. A derivative work is any new creation that is based on or derived from an existing copyrighted work (song lyrics and/or music), to adapt, rearrange, or transform such original work. In this case, the content creator is suggesting using copyrighted lyrics to create a remix commercially and for profit. Here’s why this approach is problematic: Lyrics Are Protected by Copyright: Song lyrics are protected intellectual property. To use them, even in a remix or transformative way, you must obtain permission or a license from the copyright owner(s), typically through a publisher or licensing service. Derivative Works Still Require Licensing: Even if you transform the song into a new style, it’s still based on the original copyrighted work. Claiming the song as your own and registering it with a service without proper authorization is a violation of copyright law. Legal and Financial Consequences: Unauthorized use of copyrighted lyrics could result in lawsuits, fines, or even criminal charges possibly imprisonment, for willful infringement, especially if you profit from the derivative work. Misleading Songwriting Claims: You cannot list yourself as the songwriter without the permission of the original songwriter(s). Doing so is not just unethical but could also open you up to additional legal action for misrepresentation. I strongly advise anyone watching this video to avoid following its advice without proper legal consultation. If you want to remix a song legally, you’ll need to: Obtain a mechanical license to use the original lyrics and/or melody. Credit the original songwriter(s) appropriately. Share royalties as required by licensing agreements. It's always better to create your own original music or work with properly licensed material than to risk legal trouble!"

Hi, I'm a lyricist and just now I created my songs with the help of ai from same platform, should I create a new channel where i upload my song's? Plz I need help and guidance about it. Thanks
@LakotaCatАй бұрын
suno sucks! Read their terms of usage. They say nobody can use anything they create for commercial purposes. and if you upload your own lyrics or music, they will claim it as their own with the ability to sell it or do anything with it without compensation to you. If you're a serious songwriter or musician, don't upload your work to suno (or other sites like this). they will claim your original work for themselves.

I have several original songs listed with BMI, and I have created some music with Suno because I'm a paid member. I read Suno's terms, and I'm no lawyer, so I think I'll have my attorney look it over before I submit any lyrics I wrote and then used them on music created by Suno. Ihaven't submitted them to BMI yet. I know Suno has run afoul of some big record labels, and I understand why.
@Nova-AcademyАй бұрын
I mean if someone cover you song, you still have % of the revenue as publishing royalties and BMI will give you that money.

@@Nova-Academy No not true. :Permission from Copyright Holder remixing or sampling someone else's song without explicit permission from the copyright holder violates copyright law. Even with AI tools, if the original composition or recording is recognizable, it could constitute unauthorized use.
@percivul178620 күн бұрын
Another shovel seller. Guys, do NOT do this. You ARE using copyrighted material to generate stuff that you still have to pay to use outside of personal use. You can and will get sued by the original song holders and Suno will happily let the copyright holder know it was you using their song to make the song you are trying to steal.

I work for a music distribution company, and this is what I know: The platforms don't allow AI music uploads. Yes, they don't detect all uploads because there is no proper software for that yet, but you risk being banned from the DSPs. Suno's legal note claiming that you own the rights is questionable, and they are being sued by record companies. You write only the prompt, and the result is created by all the musicians who lived before you, and you know it. Why are such things working currently? Because the lawmakers don't understand what AI is; they are busy with more important issues (like taking over Greenland)
@reedmoon36303 күн бұрын
There will never be proper software. The world needs to accept AI and integrate it into openly, or it needs to make it so illegal that people are too afraid to post AI content. I think the first option is what will happen, because it's an avalanche that can't be stopped. Musicians will only be used for live performances, and that's it. That's the new reality.

It's not about legal, it's about licensing!! you can not remix a song without have the proper license to do so, that's why we have to use audio protect with remixes, because they provide you with the license and ensure that the orginal artist get their fair share too. please google about the difference between composition royalties and sound recording royalties, you'll have an idea how this work (:

Suno only take maximum of 60sec to upload audio sample, I think it's enough for the ai to know the keys/chords/melodies of the song, and ai will get lyric from the input
