@@hopefull61256 ♥️ that’s right God gives us a blessing for reading the Bible. Revelation 1 KJV 3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand. 4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; 5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

This was beautiful, I needed this. Please pray for me. Prayers are all I need and WANT. I’m a single mom, my husband passed away years ago, I’m all alone. I’m struggling to provide for my children. I feel like a failure. But no matter what I will keep faith in Jesus. I can’t seem to get back on my feet. I lost my job for declining the vaccine. I declined due to my health conditions. I suffer from lupus, and heart disease. I’m now waitressing and so thankful to be working but I’m not making nearly enough to get by. I have two beautiful sons both are autistic. I’m overwhelmed because they require so much from me. I recently started homeschooling them because they were having so many issues including bullying. With homeschooling them my hours to work are now limited. Every month is a struggle to not end up on the streets with my boys. I’m so tired of not being able to afford simple things like groceries. But I know God will provide. He has this far. Jesus hear my prayers. I have so much love for you. I know you will carry me through this difficult journey. All Praise to THE MOST HIGH!

Hi, I suggest you to pray the Holy Cloack of St. Joseph. It is usually prayed for 30 days but I suggest you to pray it even for more days if needed, always with faith. A lot people have received great graces and people have received help even before the 30 days. From illnesses to a needed job, Saint Joseph have helped a lot. This prayer is particularly used when you need a job or generally speaking you need divine providence in a situation like yours. There a lot of people who thank Saint Joseph because they were helped in situation where they struggled financially because they had no jobs. Believe in Jesus, abandon yourself to Divine Providence from the Holy Spirit and pray. I pray also the Holy Rosary, Virgin Mary is our Mother!

Hi Fr. Mark-Mary. I think this addiction to electronic dopamine is much more complex that we think. The world around us is moving at the speed of light, and people feel the need to use the internet to feel part of society/to not miss out because it has become a need rather than an option these days It's very difficult to explain in a short paragraph. I totally understand what you mean and besides Facebook and KZbin, I refrain from other social media. I think we live in very depressing and lonely times. But definitely set fixed times/parts of the day to access the internet and not make it a constant thing. God bless 🙏🙏

This is my Lent before being confirmed in the Catholic Church! What’s helping me so far this season is setting boundaries like you shared, like not be on twitch in the daytime even though it’s not a bad place, but I’ve learned for myself how idle I let myself be. So taking a break from it to be more productive & present as well as continue my RCIA studies, etc.

Good point. I have long said to myself "I should spend less time consuming and more time creating" but I haven't begun that journey much yet. For those like myself who are seriously addicted to stimulation, here are some ideas for baby steps: I think chatting with people and commenting more when I'm spending time alone online is a baby step in the right direction because I am creating a small thing in addition to consuming what they are saying to me, or the content I'm watching. Additionally, listening to challenging or debated material prompts me to think and draw connections and draft arguments in my own head, even if I don't share them, I am creating at least *something* instead of purely consuming. Even just singing along with your song or reading comments prompts some kind of simple and easy work to be done by your mind. Or doing one pushup, jumping jack, or situp between videos or posts forces you to acknowledge that you are doing something, and depending on how long you use the net every day, could slightly improve your mood or respiration, although going for a 10 minute walk or getting more regular sleep would feel a bigger step towards beginning to improve my health. But really, I think just doing anything, changing anything when you're not happy with how you live can get you into a mindset that allows for small changes over time. Edit: Additional Ideas include journaling, using an extension to remove recommended videos from KZbin so that you use the searchbar more often (there is actually one that removes EVERYTHING except the searchbar so youtube becomes purely a tool for learning things you need to or are curious) or deveolping habits of cleaning or hygine such as cleaning windows, mirrors, the desk, or your teeth.

coffee too for me has not just been coffee, it has been an addiction of dopamine/serotonin, pleasure, that I know my body even is telling me is not worth it. it give us a jolt, but robs us from energy from our future. Just like what Lent is trying to show us too, to invest in delayed gratification, so that our energy, our love, our strength, is not robbed of us in the future.

I fell asleep to Bible in a year night after night so many times, then go back to find my place...I got a lot of peace and reprieve from the series. I learned a lot too & my sleep was peaceful. However, I agree wholehearted that we spend too much time online... I remember a time when getting information or even just very innocent learning actually cost quite a lot! I love the 'good' of online communities..and they're definitely there, but I'm very much aware of the rabbit holes too....I've explored them.. Good advice, thank you...

Intuitively I knew this was a problem for me, and included some fasting from the internet in my Lenten plan. However the hard part has been carrying it out. I find myself slipping back into it when I have idle time at work. I've brought books to read and prayer books, but checking social media for "just a minute" is oh so tempting. I agree it pulls us away from the Lord and makes it harder to hear his voice. Thanks for this video, much appreciated

I have mixed feelings about this. Because yes on one hand I do think there's an overwhelming problem with addiction to social media and gratification to the point that I think it's altering brain chemistry just like any other drug addiction. I even Gave up Tumblr and Facebook for lent and reduced my Instagram usage. Cause I wanted to get closer with God. On the other hand. I have ADHD which is a dopmine disorder. My brain can't produce tonic dompine which is needed to complete tasks and focus. It also helps regulate emotions and plays a role in executive function. It means my neuro reward system is majorly messed up. I need physical external consequences that trigger enough dopmine to keep my dopamine tank level to complete tasks. If I don't take small breaks or have small rewards throughout the day I will crash. It is a constant struggle that I absolutely hate. Because ADHD paralysis in itself is a cross. ADHD is an executive function deficit disorder (EFDD). The umbrella term “ADHD” is simply another way of referring to these issues. Executive dysfunction is a behavioral symptom that disrupts a person's ability to manage their own thoughts, emotions and actions. Dopamine is the neurotransmitter needed to have a functioning executive system and without that it reeks havoc. Executive function is even tied in with everything from pain management to coping skills. All of this combined makes this kinda stuff difficult and even deadly in some cases. There's a reason that the suicide rate is higher for people with ADHD, especially women. I have to mitigate dopamine throughout the day in small amounts to keep my dopamine tank full enough to function. And it's just honestly super frustrating to see people misusing medical terms and popular disability community terms like "chase the dopamine". By twisting their meaning, and associating them with hedonism or something. Cause that's not at all what people with my disablity are doing. Sorry for the rant. I'm just getting kinda tired.

@@thenoodlesaresoggy3728 thank you. Luckily the lord makes up for what I lack in my life. Honestly. I love him very much.💖 I just worry for other people like me. Especially young kids like me. Cause the advise they should be getting is that dopmine isn't bad. But some sources of it are. And that you need to be careful what you use to keep level outside of your meds. Like exercise, music, reading (especially spiritual reading.), moderate consumption of sugar throughout the day in small spurts or during hard tasks (Gatorade, or juice works best honestly ). Spend more time outside. Draw or write. Play video games but control how long you play. That's all great. Don't download stuff that are dopamine pits like tick tok. Set limits for social media usage. Social media in general is bad for people with time blindness because it's designed to keep you in a bubble of things that interest you. And if you start hyperfixating your gonna be in trouble. It's a disability that requires a lot of self-discipline and that's why I hate the fact it keeps getting lumped in with hedonism. Cause I don't want kids to just blindly follow pleasure. Thinking that's gonna fix everything. That's what leads to self-medicating with illegal drugs and risky behavior that people with ADHD are prone to if they don't develop management and support systems.

Yay Lent!!! 🥰✝️🕊 Praying more ❤️🙏 My parents always said Heaven is better than the happiest thing we can think of. Of course Jesus said that too they didn't make it up lol. (Luke 10:16a; 1 Corinthians 2:9 NAB)

Computer gaming is my biggest struggle. Gave it up for lent a couple years ago and I thought I could get a handle on it but 3 years later in back where I started. Your video is what I needed to hear

Thank you Fr. Mark mary- I have been trying to do exactly this. I don’t succeed completely every day but doing better than I thought I could. It is valuable. If you do it spiritually there is value

Wow! Incredibly insightful. You described me, always going to the “new kind of wealth” . It’s almost like I’m scared to be still and quiet, to not have access to these pleasurable items to distract me. I thought I was doing good not smoking or drinking, etc., the obvious no-nos, but I am dependent on little things that make me feel good and how can I hear The LORD? Fasting from trying to navigate our emotions to pleasure or numbness…
