Great video! I would love to see the PLEX example. I want to have my DVDs available to take on some multi-month camping trips. I have a Mac mini M4 pro and trying to figure out how to do this! I like to have movie night in the woods when it’s raining and not depend on an internet connection for that.

You can also connect a DAS (Direct Attached Storage) via a Thunderbolt or Ethernet port for larger storage capacity and RAID failover redundancy and share files/folders on it. You can edit video over a 10Gb wired Ethernet connection and while being tethered might not suit everybody, it's an option for those who want to store their media on the network rather than locally on a Macbook/iMac.

For sure! It’s just yet another investment. It’s a great option for specific workflows!!

Thanks… what if you try USB-C to USB-C?… you need to use video/audio capture in the middle?… (forgive my ignorance in electronics) You can also use Atomos Nexus 4k video audio capture…

@@frankpulido873 is this question for a different video?

@ mac mini connects to monitor from a USB-C port, right?… If a video/audio capture device is a must, and it seems it is, the capture card recommended is not easily available everywhere… in my case, 2 weeks and x2.5 price increase for customs, etc… I found the other in a photography category killer… (x3 but can have it Today)…

How do I access the Mac mini remotely? Or can you not do that with the built in Mac settings?
@ReachFilms12 күн бұрын
There is a way to do it through Remote Desktop in the settings however that’s a bit beyond the scope of this specific video

I had wanted to do this setup with my Mac mini, but I caved in and got a NAS with 2x 20TB drives in it. There’s no going back at this point 😂

In trying to do what you say, when I click on finder and the location tab - network is not listed. Just my connected hard drives are listed? Help please. Thanks!
@ReachFilms19 күн бұрын
You might have to enable network sharing in System Settings.

Using a Mac as a server was so much easier before macOS Server was discontinued by Apple. It lost functionality over a period of years before Apple dropped macOS Server entirely in April 2022.
