Thank you Garreth! If you haven’t tried yet, take a 12AT7 in the left position of the HMV2. You’ll find it cleans up very nicely when rolling the volume back on your guitar. That’s how we ship them now. You still get all the gain when you roll back up as well. Try it out sometime and hopefully you’ll enjoy it that much more!

@LegendaryTones
@LegendaryTones 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheDistortionPrinciple The Lynch Mod isnt currently being made at the moment as it was a limited handwired run. We ARE looking at a PCB version but that will be later in the year or early next year. They are similar in voicing but the Lynch has more bass in both settings. But since you’re using pretty high output pickups, I would think less bass would be useful and you’d likely keep the bass/deep switch on the low position. I really like what I hear with the HMV2E in the mini 800 heads. That’s the platform I’d use. Friedman is a great designer and I’m not sure I’d personally put more gain in one, but I do have customers that have done so and are happy. The 20 and 50 watt Friedman Runts would use a reverse wire version though.

That is a copy per se of the Kasha Rock Mod. John has been making those for 15-20 years. John has been building preamps and modding Marshalls since the 80s.
@LegendaryTones
@LegendaryTones 3 жыл бұрын
No, not a copy of John’s work at all. He replaced the V1 position with an additional preamp stage. This one goes into V2 as the cathode follower and layers a gain stage on top of the cathode follower. This design is actually an update of the original Soldano Hot Mod that Mike and team built from the late 1980’s and early 1990s. But it’s been refined quite a bit with various circuit improvements.
