Hey Walt, big fan. Did you know that Zetterburn's fire used to do 2x knockback, but was changed to roughly 1.5x at some point after Rivals 1 early access? (Roughly because knockback scaling math is weird so it's a general estimate. I'm so sorry you had to find out this way, the video was great 😭)

I would say my only big critique of the video is that when showing hitboxes, you didnt pause on any of the frames so it was super hard to actually see what they looked like. If you could do that for future character coverages that woule be helpful. Great and informative video otherwise

16:30 - To be clear, the up-special is what puts you into special fall-NOT the airdodge (unlike Melee). I see a lot of people neglect this in their recovery options. I still forget to do it frequently as well.

The reason I decided to main sheik 4 years ago was because you already know it’s Kira (ssbm tutorials) described sheiks combo game as a constant di mixup. I thought that sounded so cool and I have been a sheik main ever since. I hope these videos provide the same inspiration for new rivals players! :D

As far as feedback goes, I would love to see tournament preview videos for Rivals as well as Melee/Smash in general. As someone who has been spectating the scene for years on and off, those videos always entertain me as well as reignite my interest for the game.

A few things you didn't mention : Down tilt can combo depending on DI and percent either into up strong, up air or forward air Up strong is also a combo tool at early percent since you can easily get it out of dash attack and even out of down throw or up throw on some characters, and it leads into 1 or 2 up airs Due to the first hit of down strong hitting behind it can easily catch oponents off guard if you moonwalk into down smash Nair can be used to shield pressure if your oponent is a bit far from you because it can cross up Fair can be used as some kind of a wall of pain and sourspot makes fair combos into itself even offstage Also it's not relevant to learning the character but Zetter ditto is probably the funniest match up in the entire game

This guide is great, thank you. I've always had the problem in plat fighters of playing everyone, and only ever winning random MMs at tourneys lol. Zetter for me is great against the slower ground speed characters. His shield pressure and advantage state are great at overwhelming people. He's not my "best" but I get the most 3 stocks with him because you can rob people so early with a hard read 😂

Great breakdown as always. Really enjoyed the vid and i'm looking forward to more. if i can give a couple notes: - the name of the moves are a little big and at least during the down-strong demonstration, it cuts off vision of the backward hitbox. not a huge deal but id recommend either putting the move names at the top left, or just shrink it a tiny bit. - it would be awesome if when you show the hitbox demonstration against the black screen, you show the slow motion frames a couple of times per move. it wasnt always easy to see the active hitbox at full speed. i suppose we could reduce playback speed on our end, but if its not too much hassle, it would be a cool addition in future breakdowns. nitpicking aside, this video is dope. looking forward to more.

Im pretty sure they don't sent twice as far. They used to in like early rivals 1 so they killed at like 60, but all the kb in r2 had its basis starting in rivals 1, which had a minor knockback scaling increase (in comparison to doubling kb, it's still super strong). The kbs in r1 (on ustrong for example) was 1.1 and increased to 1.3 (if those numbers mean anything to you). Also it's a 5 second watch time comment so if it's outdated than whatever lol

I love this game SOOO much. I'm the biggest fan if platform fighter grappling and no game does it better, the special pummels, focus on unique throws and combo tools rather than only kill throws (though I wish there were a few more doctor mario yeets), all around just awesome

For the sake of making these "intro" videos for characters, I think you actually might go a bit TOO in-depth on the moveset analysis. I think it would be more pragmatic to hit major frame data highlights and quirks of the moves, or different ways to use them. Knowing that pummel hits on frame 10 isnt really all that helpful in teaching new players what his gameplay looks like and how to use him.

Good video very nice. I would however suggest you that when you show the hit box’s you slow down the footage a bit so make it easier to visually see the hitboxes themselves since some moves go really fast.

As a zet main in rivals 1 and now a lox main with a pocket zet in rivals 2. I actually feel zet wins the lox mu. The amount of pressure zet can put on lox is very hard for the character with bad oos options to deal with. I also feel the maypul and fors mu has not changed much for zet from rivals 1. Which is to say he loses those mus. Fors has always been a BIG struggle for zet and maypul is, well maypul.

I've picked up zetter burn as an olympia player in r1 who was playing her since she was a workshop character. Zetter's the best a masher substitute till she gets added but man does her weak recovery feel painful at times
