Your work is fantastic and beautiful! I am a paper crafter and I was watching some resin videos and I ended up here. I am always surprised by the different arts that are out there that I still didn't know about. WOW!! I did not know people were handmaking beautiful pens.

That came out great! I would have liked to see the making of the blank too. :P I never mind watching turning. It's hypnotic. I worry that when I do get my lathe after the first of next year I will have problems remembering that I have to stop sometime. :p - Heidi Edit: Just went to check out your other videos before I subscribed and found you have a video on the making of the blanks. Going to watch it now. :)~

Really phenomenal! I've been making pens with polymer clay and have been looking into new finishing coats. Polymer clay buffs up to a nice shine, but I've found the shine wears down quickly with use. I assume because it's such a soft and easily scratched material. I'm curious how long your glorious finish lasts with that final polishing you did? do you find they need to be polished again occasionally? Thanks for sharing, you do really amazing work!
@CaseyMartin7078 жыл бұрын
Katy Rogers Thanks Katy! I really appreciate that. With the CA finish the shine lasts forever as long as it's not scratched or tarnished in an unusual way. Sometimes if it's rubbed it won't seem shiny, but a quick wipe with a shirt or paper towel will bring the shine right back. It's my favorite finish because it's so durable and water proof as well as food safe. Thanks for your compliments and watching!!

Just beautiful, although I think it would've looked even better with a little less white... but that's just my personal preference. I appreciate how you polished it up to a shine, instead of just spraying a coating onto it. I think it looks way better that way. 👍
@CaseyMartin7074 жыл бұрын
I appreciate it! If you watch some more videos you’ll see 99% of the time I don’t use a spray finish. I don’t think spray finishes work that great at all
@magikdust20954 жыл бұрын
@@CaseyMartin707 that's what I find too. It always looks much, much better when a piece has been polished to a shine, rather than sprayed. Spray finishes always gives them an odd look, and you can almost always tell.

I just turned a pen like this today, and there are all sorts of fines scratches from the sandpaper on the acrylic parts... I went from 220 Up to 600, and then did like 10 micro mesh pads getting finer and finer every time. I thought after that I wouldn't have any scratches and I still see some. How can I get rid of them? Help!

Try using a polish at the end, I use HUT ultra gloss polish and it works fantastically. It’ll get all the micro scratches out!

It looks great but I'm an avid fountain pen user and I turn pens. This pen looks amazing great job but that pen kit just doesn't fit my hand. The grip is to small and awkward. I made a continental fountain pen ( I got the kit from woodcraft) with some zebra wood and it has weight to it, which I like but man those grips are just uncomfortable.
@CaseyMartin7078 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's definitely all personal preference. I've found I like these kits a lot because they're a good balance for male/female customers. I personally like to use them with the cap screwed on for added weight. However like I said it's all personal preference so whatever kit you find is best for you then use that! Thanks for watching!
