Great work, the polished surfaces on the blade and on the brass handles look stunning. From a balisong flipper's perspective, I think you should add washers between the blade and handle surface areas to increase smoothness and durability, as well as reducing wear onto the inside of the handles due to the blade rubbing in there when opening the knife. I think if this design had some titanium made handles, it would actually make a pretty decent flipper! The weight of the brass handles most likely makes this knife pretty terrible of a flipper, because full brass isn't a very suitable handle material, at least from a flipper's perspective. But it's a beautiful piece of art and a great collectors item!

Hi i have a doubt, how do they make those balisong rainbow coloured?
@martyjehovah2 жыл бұрын
@@fredrick1643 when titanium oxidizes its color appears to our eyes to change as the oxide layer becomes thicker. it goes from yellow to orange to reddish purple to purple to blue, so to make something rainbow colored you basically electroplate it with titanium and you vary how long or how intense the electroplating is across different sections of the object to cause it to be multiple colors. If the object is made of titanium you can just heat it with a flame and it will change through all those colors as it gets hotter, and one end being cooler than the other end will cause the color to change through the different hues across the object from hottest to coolest.

Fantastic videos you put on KZbin. Sorry for the questions but I hope you can answer them. My friend is a gamekeeper and he has given me a deer antler to use as a handle. I am going to make my own first knife as a hobby but how do you get such a highly polished finish on the blade and what stops it from going rusty? is it normal salt you heat up and would a BBQ get it hot enough? is that old oil you dip it in after? what kind of sand do you use? thanks.
@gadaadhoon Жыл бұрын
Did you ever get answers? There's a knife making subreddit where youcould find help. No, a bbq won't be hot enough. He used a blower going through a coal fire. I've done the same thing using a coal or charcoal fire in a hole in the ground with a hair dryer or reversed shop vac as a blower.
@gadaadhoon Жыл бұрын
As for your other questions, it's still the same material that he started with and will rust if it gets wet. I don't know how he does polishing but I do mine with increasingly fine sandpaper finishing with 2000 grit followed by a fine polishing paste and I get a similar mirror finish.
