That music made my day! I didn't expect to hear that in a woodworking video at all. Great choice! Definitely made a great video even more enjoyable, in my opinion. It gives quite the intestine mood to the whole thing. Now I'm off to find more songs from them. :-D

First thing you do is turn half of the block into sawdust?

They are beautiful! I especially love the one you just did with the natural half and half of light and dark! Gorgeous!!!💟Question: Couldn't you get two out of each block if you cut it in half, thickness wise, before starting? This would also save having to cut away so much off the top as waste to make it thin enough.

Thanks Audrey, the spalting in that piece of blackwood was pretty cool. They are already cut down out of 6" x 1" I could start from a bit smaller if I had a bandsaw in the shed to resaw them but I think the wide angle of that camera probably gives the impression that they are thicker than they really are. I also tried to keep as much as the feature in the spalting as possible

Very nice pendants, I've used double sided tape for pendants and it can be difficult to get off, is hot melt easy to rub off? Thanks James

I think so,

Lacquer thinner, isopropyl alcohol, or denatured alcohol (DNA) will cause hot melt glue or the residue from double sided tape to release.

Very nice, thanks for sharing. What were the couple of things you used for finishing at the end there?

Hi Ron, from memory I've just finished those with a caranuba wax paste, probably the Gillie Stephensons one

Great job picking lousy music. "I want your disease" ? Really ? It was a great video after I muted it.

Sorry, but your choice of music ruined an otherwise good video.

David Baker Oh well, thanks for your input, I find music tastes to be one of personal choice. I could have gone looking for some punk, I do love classic punk, but I felt that suited the mood better, pretty chilled

There is no commentary on the video so why not turn the sound off. The video is well made and the technique is original.. That's enough for most normal people.
