Turning My Closet Into a CRAFT Room How to Organize Craft Supplies In a Closet

Just came across this video today. Some good options presented! I have, for about 15 years until now, used those BH&G cubes from W-M. THey are sturdy, wonderful size (a little deeper than typical), will hold a couple of hundred pounds altogether, and they have lasted for a long time. They have been perfect until recent downsizing. I still use them for a few things but had to go custom with this new home. So my husband is building an adjustable shelving system into my very shallow, single-door closet - removing the existing standard shelf and rod, putting up new shelving 22"x14"d on each end from approx. 18" above the floor to 15" from the ceiling, keep a shorter rod that is movable from against the wall for storage to the middle of the shelves for use. Making the shelves from stair treads for the front 11" because they hold 250lbs each and have a smooth, rounded from so nothing (fabric) snags on them. Looking forward to a nicely organized system in this new place.

Turned out amazing. We often use hardware storage unit for our smaller items. They have multiple dividers and offer a handle to carry them where we are working.

I absolutely love this makeover! Great idea and organizing things is tough sometimes, but yes something a bit more sturdy is a must haha! Especially if you have a lot of stuff, I really like the rolling cart its so Awesome! I could definitely find use for that for sure! And your paint organizer is just right for now .. but you will need two of them trust me on that haha!! anyways you did a magnificent job luv Yay!! Your home is absolutely lovely! I love your closet organization. I also do not have a whole room to dedicate. I am in the process of trying to make a corner of our family room my craft supply. I decorate more rustic farmhouse, but I definitely got some tips from you! I too do not want to look at everything all the time. I have an antique mail cabinet from a local school. It has one 3 1/2 foot door that opens then has about 80 slots where teachers mail use to go. I am going to pull out some of the slots to open up larger sections. My husband got a couple out using vise grips. It is nice because it is only about 12 inches deep. Getting organized is not quick or easy but I am plugging away at it! Blessings~

I’ve been working on organizing my craft supplies this week🙂 my craft space is my dining room😩it has a built in bookcase/ computer table... I’m going to measure the bookshelf area for buying bins so things don’t look so messy as this is where everyone enters my home... wish me luck😂

Great job, I have a home office and craft room combined and florals are stored in my seasonal storage area in another room which is not working for me. I need a suitable place for florals in my craft room. I am going to look for wire baskets to add to a storage bin like you did. I have several storage options and cabinets in my craft room but it’s not organized properly. I finished making over my bedroom closet so the craft room will be my next big project! Very well done, Maria! You got a lot of supplies very neatly into a relatively small space. So much nicer looking than the before. You're desk is nicely organized too. I bet you feel so much happier knowing it's finished. I know I always do when I reorganize. 🥰 I would suggest for anyone else wanting the storage cubes to not buy from the big A. Walmart carries the BHG storage cubes, that size, for $69.00 with free shipping. I have four 8 cube units, one four cube, and one three cube bridging two of the 8 cube units on either side of my sewing/craft room. The 4 cube has an extendable IKEA table on casters tucked under it. The table can be pulled to the center of the room to add the leaves when I need it for a cutting table. The 3 cube has three Raskog carts underneath.
