Here is the updated Planner Layout that I'm using as of September 2024! kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKCTc3lsd9CZaJY

One of the changes I made is not to spend time on the monthly grid drawing but to just label the month at the top of the page, listing the days of the month 1-30 and most of the time labeling M for Monday etc. but allowing space for notes. I have realized taking the time to draw grids isn't really necessary. As a senior, I discarded my zillions of "planners" and just carry a booklet and or field notes or even Kraft Traveller Journals booklets. I have even taken left over paper and fold into a booklet, stapling the spine. This fills my creative outlet too. Enjoyed your video a lot!

You could use those last couple of blank pages for any future logging you need

Passion Planner also does large monthly recaps and rating your month, what went well, how to improve, etc so that could be another option. Thanks for watching!

This is the one. I've been falling down the rabbit hole of note taking but this seems best for me. I think I will just use it for planning traveling instead of a daily journal. But I'm impressed with this system. Thanks for the video.

Hobonichi Techo Weeks Sneaker is what I use. Has everything already printed out and can be purchased with extra pages. With a taller not wider profile to Field Notes, you can write more and feels good in the hand. I use field notes for studying books I am reading and travel adventures. Hobonichi is for daily work life.

I've been using my Field Notes super haphazardly and its still managed to be really good for me to keep up with everything since I look at it every day. It just gets hard with distant appointments slowly disappearing from sight as I fill more pages. Hoping this more structured way will help me keep track of those things better while not losing the joy of jotting down a quick thought without caring how it looks on the page.

Just bought all National Park Series Field Notes. Waiting for my collection to arrive. I’ll use these alongside my iPad mini.

I started out Bullet Journalling in an A5, and I hated it because of the size. I ended up switching to a smaller notebook that is a A6 size that I was intending to have as a commonplace notebook, and I just fell in love with the size and portability. Wish the Field Notes had the dot grid in the National Parks series, but I’m happy with the Roterunner I ended up settling with.

I'll have to check them out! I really do like the smaller size but there are moments where the extra page size could help haha

I too found Bullet Journaling uncomfortable, but mostly very time consuming - drawing grids etc. The time I spent drawing and labelling the months etc could have been spent making a phone call or starting laundry or completing a task. I actually laughed at all the coloring and labeling, drawing, stickers etc that was spent on others' journals/ planners whereas my goal was to gather facts and get things done, utilizing time- efficiently. For me the name of the game is Efficiency. For others, not so much. Was a creative outlet? Field notes, a plain notebook, or traveller's journals booklets etc are all much more helpful and as you say "portable". Creating a small notebook from leftover paper is also very simple and portable- stapling the sides to form the binder.

I just started using Field Notes for my planner... I have a history of Bullet Journalling, but same as you, I found the size to be an obstacle... For my planning, I'm using a Master Task list, which may only be one per book, I'll see how that goes... A Quarterly Overview (future log and goals), and an adaptation of the Alastair Weekly (which will be most of my pages)... I anticipate that I'll get 4-6 months out of each book... I did buy a few of the larger sized Field Notes, which still seem less bulky than the planners I was using (Dingbats, Archer and Olive), so I will try them to see if I can have it both ways between page real estate and portability. I see your update video, and I'm heading there next... I hope this method is a positive influence on both of our futures!

I too once used Bullet Journaling but think it is more about a creative outlet vs getting things done. Too much work, nor do I ever return to my past booklets to look at anything- so just becomes clutter. Done, toss, feels good... I intertwine my phone calendar if I want to document an important date or event since it is always with me, using Siri as a quick note or reminder, calendar. So have begun using traveller journals booklets, or Field notes - simple and straightforward. I too have a Master Task List and each Sunday, I review and choose 5-6 tasks to complete each week from the Master List and incorporate it into my weekly , daily planning. I also have a booklet labeled Projects and brainstormed every step needed to complete each page of each project and work toward that as well. Has worked wonders for completing more "stuff".

I purchased an undated daily planner from Walmart which works great. I don't reference my monthly or weekly in my daily planner so it works for me. It's a 2 page per day spread. I have been wanting to try a field notes, so I may utilize some of this.

Before I had the Passion Planner I showed in this video, I had an undated one that also had a 2 page per day spread. It was a REALLY good undated planner. But I just didn't utilize it enough, and it just wasn't for me. Glad you found one that's working well for you!

I think if I would ever move in to a position where I am doing more creative work/self employed full time I would go back to a full sized planner, but yeah for where I'm at now this is working great for me.

Hi Tyler! I loved this planner format that you’ve lined out in this video, and I’m considering adopting it myself! I do have one question: Where did you get that 2024 pocket calendar that you used to create the lines for your week view? I want to get one for 2024, but can’t find it anywhere on the Field Notes Web site. Did it come with the notebook, or did you find it somewhere else? Thank you!

It comes with a 3 pack, at least the ones like the National Parks collection he showed
@TylerMiller8 ай бұрын
Yes - as others mentioned it's included in a pack of the national parks series. I just ordered some birch and pitch black and they didn't come with them so I'm guessing they don't always include them.

I love the idea of this. I do have a question though, what kind of items would you be adding to the weekly view?
@TylerMiller8 ай бұрын
So I write in the normal stuff we have every week. Girls have dance, other classes, church services. Etc. I also write down if I remember what we had for dinner. Then I can go back through and see what we liked didn't like for future meal planning. I also write in appointments.
