I love this idea, but I am just wondering if there is something about the IC7300 that makes this possible? I feel like turning the power supply off and on while leaving my radio turned on is like trying to shut it off by unplugging it. Or am I missing something?

Yes, it is like turning it on by plugging it in and not not using the power switch. I do this ONLY when I use the remote capability.
