Idk if anyone mentioned it yet, but look into “duplicate stitching” embroidery for knits! It’s embroidery but if done right looks like it’s original color work. Also, for lighter color sweaters, as long as you do it lightly you can totally stencil and spray paint the design on. Those turned out great though!

I can tell you from experience: fabric medium WILL not bleed in the wash. I painted a pair of overalls with J-Hope’s Daydream album cover and it has stayed as vibrant and color blocked as the first day as I painted. I recommend turning our clothing inside out when you wash it though. To preserve the color

They turned out so cute!!! You can heat set the paint by ironing over it for about ten seconds with a pressing cloth between your iron and the paint. That should make sure it's pretty wash resistant!

I think learing to crochet or knit could be really fun for you, the coolest part about it is once you get the hang you can sit on the couch and work on stuff while watching TV, it's my fave. As someone who's done something very similar to this, I can tell if you wash it in a pillowcase it should hold up. Hang dry though!

You might want to try duplicate stitch for chunkier knits (not the super fine ones with tiny stitches) - it’s like embroidery but looks and stretches like the knitting it’s on, and it’s just one thing to learn instead of the 1200 techniques that go into learning to knit a jumper exactly how you want 😂
