and notice, commentators said SVB's only loss at that time WAS to Earl. IT's a shame how many peasants hate on Earl out of pure ignorance and miseducation. Earl is the greatest, the GOAT, way past Efren who only has 1 US Open... Earl is the first to have 5 US Opens and his last was like 2000, so that's over 20 years ago. SVB has 5 and won 3 in a row, but he still isn't Earl the Pearl. If you could battle Prime Earl (70's, 80's, possibly late 60's) he would wipe the floor with SVB

Yeah I love Shane man, and Earl is a genuine legend and also a younger player who Earl holds in the highest respect and regards. What's really crazy is even at 63 years old Earl on any given night can actually defeat even the top 10 world rated elites, but its usually his mentality that fails him still, a great moment was Miscconi cup 2022 Earl was fricking beating Jason Shaw 3-0! clearly on the way to winning and getting the point but he started to fall apart confidence wise and Jason tends to rebound better then anyone in the world so he went onto steal the win 5-3 but what was really neat was at one point it was Shane who was actually mentoring Strickland and trying to give him a confidence boost and help him shake off his emotions was just real cool to see.

@@TheBluzguy sportsmanship, just like chivalry, was something made up. the only sportsmanship required is to respect the ref, and maybe no sharking or something. there are plenty of athletes with bad attitudes. frankly, i think it's the other way around. because you don't respect earl, you don't respect his antics. and let's be real here, who needs respect without the money? that's a reflection on the state of the sport, or on how earl is still one of the best players. i meet plenty of bozos a worse player than earl that still have a lot to say. if you want him to shut up, it means the game needs a ref. not this mumbo jumbo about respect. for all that i've seen of earl speak, i have never seen him lie, that's for sure. so sure, you don't like his behavior. i would be happy to see some more well behaved players that played better than earl. have these better and well behaved proper players come around so earl gets booted on the first round of these events. where are they? i don't mean to be mean when i said that, but that's where i place my respect. i come to watch the players play, not worrying about what they are saying between matches that doesn't affect play. or maybe it does, but not in a direct and competitive advantage kind of way. i guess i'm just a different viewer from you.

This racking inspection crap is getting out of hand. Either get an official to rack or rack your own.
@tlinjr5 жыл бұрын
There’s nothing wrong with inspecting the rack if you know what you’re looking for. A lose wing ball means you have a better chance of making it in the corner and you can break from center so you have more cue ball control on the break.why give up an advantage like that? The world pool championships banned inspecting the rack so players couldn’t tell where they could break from.
@johnbeard37335 жыл бұрын
@@tlinjr I hear what your saying. I'm just saying from a spectators viewpoint that it takes too long and is boring. If you cant trust your competitor to give you a good rack, do it yourself. Especially if it will be aired on youtube or t.v.

Rack your own has its own problems, with plenty of players who know exactly how to pattern rack, or even load the rack. I think that 1995 Color of Money match in Hong Kong PROVED that Efren is.
@marginality2705 жыл бұрын
The final score shows only part of the picture. There's MUCH more to it. To summarize: As in a lot of matches, the break played a big part in this one. At first, Efren accepted the racks he was given without examination or question, and got more than his share of bad breaks and bad rolls after his breaks. Earl had the advantage of having the break 'dialed in', and he did a lot of fussing over the quality of the racks he got to make sure that his advantage counted. (Just Earl being Earl, i guess we all thought.) So, every time Earl came to the table he was able to string together a good-sized package that Efren struggled to equal. As a result of that, they went into the third and final day of the race to 120 with Efren trailing Earl by seven racks. Before it was over, that deficit increased to SEVENTEEN racks, at its height. A score of Earl 104 and Efren 87 meant that, to win the match, Efren would have to win over 2 racks for every 1 that Earl won from there out. At some point, though, Efren started paying more attention to the rack quality he was getting, and it was at that point that things started to turn around. Efren began chipping away at Earl's lead until the situation reversed itself. With the score at Efren 117 and Earl 113, now EARL had to win over 2 racks for every 1 that Efren won, to win the match. And that didn't happen. Final score: Efren 120, Earl 117. A comeback like that means that, if Efren had paid attention to rack quality from the start, the match probably wouldn't have gone past the second day. Efren bested Earl in 9 Ball, the game that was Earl's best. But, Efren was just that good in EVERYTHING ELSE he played, too -- a claim that Earl can't make. (Earl, himself, has since credited Efren for a lot of what he learned.) No one should think that just ANYONE could've beaten Earl in 9 Ball in a race to 120. Earl is a giant in a world of giants. But, Efren is just plain otherworldly.

Your talking about how Diamond tables are the best tables to play on. As a fan watcher, I disagree. I hate watching matches on Diamond tables, but, of course, I have to watch when that's what they are playing on although too many balls hang up. Brunswick tables are better to watch. Players don't have this issue so much. The bank Shane missed on the 1-ball is a good example. He would have made it on a Brunswick table more conducive to his skill level. Then when Earl tried to kick it in, the same point on the pocket stopped it and all this commotion over a shot because of the Diamond table they are playing on. Shane just should have made it in the first place. And the shots keep happening. Earls combo of the 7-ball into the corner pocket is another one that should have went in, but the Diamond table said no.
