Honestly, thank you for sharing your cleaning timelapse. It is so easy to feel down with unobtainable perfect workspaces. It was really nice to see someone's workroom that looked worked in. Thanks for the Craftmas so far!

As a Swede, I appreciate whenever you tie in something German into your crafts or videos in general, as I always find it fun to see the similarities and differences between our cultures. I also remember those exact straw ornaments from my childhood and they're very traditional here as well - so much so that IKEA has included some straw stars in they're collection of Christmas ornaments this year. 😄 The ones you made were so pretty!! Would be curious to see how you manage to store them safely later though.

If you're interested in doing more traditional straw work, there's a lovely book by Veronica Main called "Swiss Straw Work". I happened to take a class by her and it was really facinating.

I mean straw is a fibre... It's just not as nice to wear as wool and fabric 😂. I love the straw stars, they're so cute! One of my sewing friends said that if your sewing space is always perfect and never a disaster that you spend more time cleaning and tidying than creating. I always try to think of that I feel embarrassed about the chaos I create when I'm creating 😊❤️

Love straw stars! We make them in Sweden too, they're so classically Christmas to me. We make little angels, hearts, and goats too (idk why, but Christmas goats are a thing here. I don't question it 😂). 100% agree on the red thread, black thread is just wrong. Your stars turned out lovely, they're going to look so great with the rest of your decorations!

I love this! It looks like such a quick fun craft! And probably safe to have within a toddler's reach as well! Not that the stars will survive the ordeal, but the toddler should be fine.

Those straw ornaments are lovely! I also let my space get overwhelmingly untidy and then have to rein it in because I can no longer work in the chaos.

Really enjoying this series. I like the variation but also the sorta bite size crafts. Knitting projects can be so big that it’s nice to see a quick but equally lovely crafting alternative that still in the same field.

Thanks for sharing this bit of your heritage, my mother in-law is German and has some straw ornaments on the tree, so now I'm considering crocheting one those snowflakes you showed a couple videos ago AND making one from some of the timothy hay my pickypants rabbit won't eat... I figure I can make myself a little jig like yours with some of the various bits of stuff around here, my whole house looks like your craft room (though less fabric on the floor, it's all on the sofa cause the picky bunny thinks cotton is a great snack).

This was lovely! That circle jig was so smart, imagine doing all that without it, the time and patience it would take. In Sweden we also have straw decorations for the tree but also hearts and wreaths for doors and windows, and many more things.

These are lovely. I’ve seen them at craft fairs but knew nothing of the history. So a history lesson as well as seeing how they are made. As to your room I think we are all doing it. Christmas is fast approaching and things are just getting pushed out of the way so we can work on the next thing!

In my childhood we had a nativity scene. In the background was a big blue fabric. In advent every day come a new Strohstern on this fabric. It was like a Kalender. Every morning I stood up and ran to see the new star. Sorry my english is bad, I hope it's understandable 🙈

Your straw ornaments are just delightful, I am going to find a kit for myself and one for a friend. My 'craft room' is really our second bedroom, but with covid, etc, no guests for several years. It has become a yarn, fabric, and sewing machine(s) repository. Too crowded to work in, so I do my projects in the living room, and close the door on the chaos.

oh they are so so cute! Have you heard of himmeli? They're a Finnish straw Christmas ornament, but they're more like a chandelier made out of whole straws strung together. I've never seen ströhsterne before - I am of German descent but my Opa was from Bavaria and maybe they didn't have them there (and/or he just didn't have them in Australia)
