Of COURSE washers are directional. The stamping leaves a sharp edge that should always go against the surface. The question really is, would you take something apart BECAUSE a washer was installed upside down?

Fork seal removal trick: heat the slider with a heat gun or torch. Seals pop right out. Taught to me by the Honda tech side of a multiline dealership 45 years and hundreds of fork seal jobs ago. Too clean the interior of the sliders clear to the bottom use a long handle bottle brush in a drill. Commercial kitchen suppliers carry them. Carry on.
@MostlyInteresting3 ай бұрын
My first fork seal replacement back in the 80's I left the forks in the clamps rather than take them off and putting them in a vice. Now I see vids like "change the seals the easy way!" LOL

that´s the main reason why I watch this channel. I work on a completely different field, but work piles up and things get complex very soon, I tend to go all negative thinking and being overflowed by thinking how much work is left and all that. When I look at this guy, I find myself in him but he´s always with a positive attitude, I bet part of it is because he loves his work and that helps, I love mine too but I have to change my mindset and be more like him.

For those curious about what Craig was using on his pneumatic die grinder to clean the gasket surface look up "roloc bristle disc". They're pretty handy for cleaning a metal surface where you need to avoid any metal removal.

YOU'RE NO TOOL AND DIE MAKER. A DECENT A DIE GRINDER AT 34,000 RPM IS WAY TOO FAST FOR RYLOC WHICH ARE DESIGNED FOR ABOUT THAT SPEED, A DRILL WOULD BE BETTER. RYLOC IS DESIGNED TO RENOVE DEBRIS FROM HARD METAL SURFACES ACCORDING TO 3M. I'M 63 AND HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYONE USE RYLOC ON A DIE. DURING A TOUR OF A PITTSBURG GM PLANT IN 1985 MY BOSSE'S UNCLE SHOWED IS A DIE TO STAMP OUT FIERO FLOOR PANS BIG ENOUGH TO WALK INTO. SURFACE GRINDERS AND LAPPING PLATES ARE WHAT HEAD AND DECK SURFACES NEED TO BE PREPARED ON IF MACHING IS NOT REQUIRED. I CAN'T FATHOM HOW HAND GRINDING ALUMINUM HEAD AND DECK SURFACES WITH AN ALUMINUM OXIDE ABRASIVE DISC AT OVER 30K RPM IS ACCURATE + OR - .0005" OR EVEN .001" NOT TO MENTION MAINTAINING A PRECISE RA FINISHED SURFACE. I'M NOT CURIOUS, I'M KNOWLEDGEABLE AND YOU ARE NOT A PROFESSIONAL. HAVE A NICE DAY SIR.

The Shinko 705 and Duro HF904 tires work well on the GL and CX ADV builds. Also, Harbor Freight sells fiber abrasive wheels (red and blue) that work great for removing paint and that nasty clear coat from aluminum without damaging the surface. I was very lucky to find a 2 into 1 header with Yoshi can . Sounds great!

Fun hack for getting things in the exact middle when you're working with small items you need to drill. And you don't want to mess with an SAE tape measure and dividing fractions. Grab a sheet of paper, speaker wire, plastic bag, kleenex, or whatever you can find and cut it to the same length as your piece. Now fold that in half. Now mark that on your piece and go for it.
