One of the things I love most about this game is how you can tell someone's intentions by their footsteps, like if they're going for a revive or trying to push. It really makes this a more tactical than most other FPS games imo.

South African hunter here, I usually get between 170-210 ping, and while I do wish there were servers here, not only would there not be enough people to get fair/diverse lobbies, but Hunt's netcode is far better than so many people like to say it is. Honestly, I never get invalid hits or anything of the sort unless my ping goes over 250, which only happens if there's a break in the undersea cable or if my connection to Crytek servers shits the bed for whatever reason. I was fortunate enough to play Hunt while I was in Germany for a short while, albeit on a mid-laptop that could barely run it on lowest settings. Do I wish I could get lower ping? Yes. Am I getting some sort of advantage over other people because of it? Fuck no, I did way better while I was in Germany with

@@Huuge Not only did I say there's next to no advantages, making it almost only unfair to me, you ignored the fact that I said that Hunt is my favourite shooter, despite the ping. Many South Africans play on EU servers with that kind of ping on a multitude of games, such as Battlefield games as EA has either shut down the local servers or those communities have moved on due to multiple reasons. I would not have the hours in this game if I did not feel that I could compensate for the ping, as I have to do anyway if I want to play many different online shooters. If I had to choose between not being able to play at all, or being able to play with high ping I would go with the high ping, since that's what I have to do with most games anyway. I would not have the hours in this game if I did not feel that I could compensate for the ping. Without Hunt, there are a number of people that I would most likely never have met, and I'm very glad I've been able to make those friendships. To now say that I should have never been able to buy the game is just a shallow look into the issue.

The game Warframe has a setting that you can change for ping, you can set the maximum ping other people in your mission have, so if the limit is 300 ping then you wont be matched with anyone higher than 300

It also makes it harder to discern location and distance of them. I personally don't use it. I use a system level eq to get the balance that's comfortable to my ears.

@Huuge I disagree and don't recommend anyone use that setting outside watching movies and old TV shows. It does not work properly with the way hunts binaural audio is designed. You lose both distance and direction accuracy. Equalizing the volume of things above and below you near and far. It's going to be confusing to most people, and arguably even if it's what you are used to, getting used to not having it would still be better. I think Call of duty warzone might be the exception, but the audio design in that game is trash, so footsteps are almost inaudible all together.

I'm a fan of the crossbow, but some of these plays are downright diabolical. As far as the ping cap, I regularly play with a buddy from New Zealand, and if I can't play with him it'll be a bit sad, but I still have plenty of other friends to play with in the US. With him joining us on US West, he's usually around 150 to 180 ping. I have no idea how he plays this way, but he's probably got most of his hours in the game playing at this level of ping, so I guess he's just learned to compensate. If their goal is to prevent people from intentionally playing in regions that are far removed from theirs, then they may have to just use a pretty strict ping limit to do so. I have a feeling that it could impact the game negatively for other reasons though. For example, I don't know how popular the game is in South America, so players there may be trying to play on US servers to avoid long queue times or empty matches. This would also likely be a thing for people playing at odd hours for their region. We've also seen in other games, albeit much more popular ones, that people will just queue in different regions because they perceive the player base there to be better competition. If those things are the price we pay for more fair gameplay, well, I just hope it is a net positive for the game as a whole.

Company installed glass fiber internet, my ping europe goes 5 to 15, i drop to 3 stars, more two than four. Because tons of people intentionally play with high ping since there is almost no ping cap. It's set to 225 ping which is ridiculous. I've been considering making a video about ping in hunt and covering the whole topic. There's a lot to cover though.

Also 225 is absolutely insane, not even the most jank Arma servers I've played on let you get close to 140. 225 sounds like a nightmare.

Ping cap is gonna suck for some regions with low player base. this is how you kill most games in certain regions. Im OCE and this game is actually kinda dead in OCE after certain times of the day, so i like to play on US west, it sits at about 200-250 ping, but at least i dont have to wait 25 minutes to find a match. It fucking sucks, i can see the ping cap literally removing 90% of OCE players from the game because who wants to sit there and wait forever for a game? ide rather que for 5 minutes and have 250 ping than to wait that long.

But no, you go straight to US West which depletes the OCE servers, and makes everyone think there are no OCE players. Play on your own servers.

Trash weapons. Honestly can't stand most of the crossbow alternate shots they are broken and arent in the spirit of the game in my opinion. I really miss OG hunt recoil before loser streamers ruined it for everyone. Now every high level video you watch, they shoot, instant 180 spin and run sideways. I think that's a joke. The fire arrows are a joke too. They make it too easy to heal, dont punish missing and make it way too easy to burn now.

If you get killed by a crossbow it sounds like a skill issue. Why are you sitting still? To clarify 85% of all my crossbow kills are to people crouch walking or not moving at all, otherwise I just get hit markers. A tip for you is that regardless of how sneaky you think you are someone always knows you're there, so don't sit still.
