Turning little scraps into something useful or artful is some of the most fun of woodturning. Turning Manzanita is not fun but that's for another day. LOL! I needed a quick and easy project and this little scrap turned out to be just the ticket. Lots of fun, quick and easy, great gift idea or craft show sale, this is the ideal project. Finished in Feed & Wax.

You should do a show on Tuffy - how you meet, the pieces you have turned using Tuffy’s wood and tools, wood you didn’t turn and why, etc. It is always a special show when Tuffy is involved.

That would be a lot of fun, Peter. Tuffy and I have never met in person. We are about a thousand miles apart. But he sure has given my channel a boost with all of his creativity and amazing pieces of wood he has found scattered around his hiking trails. He is an interesting man, for sure! 😊

Phil, I am 79 years old and last September I bought a MIDI lathe and trimmings. I did this because I loved to watch and hear your commentary. I have to do my turning sitting down due to back operation. I was going crazy sitting in the house. Turning has helped me mentally and physically. I am standing up a little. Thanks for my life awakening. Lots of luck turning. Keep turning and so will I. Thanks

Such good news, Ronnie! Even standing a little, fantastic! I like to think the more you do the easier it will become but I'm no expert. However you do it, turning is a great hobby and it sure is better to be busy. Good for you, my friend! 😊

I am a 71yr an only been turning for about 2 years. I am a 100% Disabled TDIU Vietnam Veteran. I am using Woodturning for rehabilitation. I have a mental disability and partially paralyzed on my right side. Woodturning has taught me that all things can be accomplished with practice and some patients. It has improved my self confidence and be proud of my accomplishments. Ther is no doubt that Phill Anderson is the best teacher and not afraid to make a mistake, He presents it a way that ALL turners of every level can understand. I cant give him enough credit that I have learned SO MUCH from the very best. I am in the process of exposing woodturning to all my DAV Veterans that they can improve themselves. THANK YOU PHIL ANDERSON KEEP ON TURNING

Well, firstly I have a confession; Thursday is 'look forward to a Phil masterclass' day, and even a 'quick and easy project' does not disappoint. I just love your style, your chat, and your eye for the unusual. I have said it before, and I say it again, you entertain me, educate me and inspire me to have a go - you are a true master, Sir! And so, the Popeil Pocket Lathe makes its debut. Making micro-bowls has never been easier than with the Popeil Pocket Lathe. This lathe runs on two AAA batteries, fits in your pocket, and, like the Popeil Pocket Fisherman, this lathe will only be available for purchase on late-night infomercials. I'm glad you had the opportunity, Phil, to demonstrate the prototype, with great results, I might add. I think micro-bowls are going to be big! 🙂

That little dish turned out just GEORAGRS. I ran across this video because it really caught my eye, I turn a tiny crotch bowl that turned ok and of course not as beautiful as yours, Another example that beautiful thing also come in small packages and you know how to make it look as good as a large piece. You make me interested in turning all wood. ❤ KEEP ON TURNING

It doesn't need a pincushion in it, Phil. You could use it to contain pins as you work on a garment - easy to drop pins into it or take them out of it one at a time and also to pour all of them at once back into their box when you finish your work. It's a real cutie. Thank you to Tuffy for sending and you for sharing and see you soon.

Hi Phil, good to tune in to you again. 99% of people would not have given a little scrap of wood like this a second look before throwing it into the firewood box without another thought. Fortunately it fell into your hands and the result is there for all to see and enjoy. You are a true artist with woodturning tools and this is a 'real beauty', any way you look at it. The 'Feed n Wax' again proved itself to be a great finish. Just got home from hospital yesterday afternoon following my Right Shoulder replacement but had to tune in. It has taken me longer to type this note with my useless left hand than it took you to make your video. Cheers, Don from South Aust.

Oh my gosh, Don. I don't know how long it takes to heal a new shoulder but I would imagine awhile. Keep up the good spirits, think positive thoughts and do a little drinking. The last probably won't help but you won't care, so there's that. Take good care, my friend! 😊

Very nice. I can see my wife putting a piece like this in a prominent place in our home with a few acorns and/or something else that has been found placed in the dish. Thanks for sharing your talents "for all to enjoy". Looking forward to all your future postings and the beautiful results you bring out of the natural wood.

I'm glad that bark inclusion turned away because that is the cutest result. You always make me appreciate my scraps, Phil. They are often the biggest conversation starters. As you were sanding the outside I was thinking Howard's and that you hadn't used it in awhile, to my recollection. Then you went and used it. :) Great video.
