I know this is an old video, but I'm going through most of your stuff. The spacer idea for the worm is fantastic. I've been trying to figure out how to do something like a platter, this idea just unlocked a big problem I was working on.

Great tips and tricks Mike. I particularly liked the jigs for sizing tendons and recesses. Getting tired of pulling out the tape for it. A guy can never have enough tips in his pocket. Thanks for sharing. Fred

Being an analytical, I think about how can I make a task easier. Without the pressures of any deadline, I can take the time to stop and make a jig, add a new storage solution or practice a new technique that will make turning easier, more productive or more fun tomorrow.

Mike you briefly showed in video you using a wire thickness of wall. Been looking for an hour but cam you show me how to make them. Do you have a viseo of that?
@MikePeaceWoodturning
@MikePeaceWoodturning 6 жыл бұрын
I think I showed one I used for measuring wall thickness for a coffee scoop while it was in a donut chuck in my first turning tips video Dec 2015. I use music wire, same wire I use for awls, but smaller. Get from a hobby shop. It is is springy but maintains its shape unlike a coat hanger. I use a different style for hollow globe ornaments. Use similarly to a bowl caliper where the opening is larger than the thickest wall thickness and you gage the gap that is left between the wall and the end of the caliper. Hope this helps.
