We had the three day week from strikes, regular power cuts from strikes, a nationalised car industry that collapsed from strikes, a higher rate tax threshold of 95%, loads of our highest earners emigrated because they had little choice and they called the UK the poor man of Europe. During her time she got the economy under control which enabled me to get a mortgage on a house and so did most of my mates, which is probably where your debt figure comes from. My house is paid for now and it's my main asset at half a million. She went to war with a country halfway round the world that invaded British soil and kicked their ass on their own doorstep. When labour got back in under Blair they pissed most of the countrys wealth up the wall and got us into a war we couldn't win for a cause that didn't exist. I'm not saying Thatcher was perfect, but the UK got back on track while she was in power. I don't know if you were there or not, but I was and that's my experience of it. I think if you were a miner or a printer or a British Leyland worker you probably hated her though, because she she got the unions Marxist boot off the country's neck. @cryptocorey85822 ай бұрын
@gweilospur5877 that's because dumb people don't go to college. Also some of the wealthiest people I know didn't go to college. 40% falls away when you pay student loans. I have friends that went to the trades and make $80k after 6 years with zero debt. My company does $3m a year and I don't have a college degree. My father is wealthy with no degree. This doesn't mean. I'm not educated or smart. I am highly intelligent, and all my learning was autodidactic. I know trades people who make a ton of money About half of people who attend college never graduate. 50% of people who do get a college education, get jobs that don't require college. Last year I needed a new computer designer. I interviewed many college grads. They all had zero work skills, and they all had weird demands. It's clear to see, your average college grad is ill equipped foe the workforce. Unless you go to school for big things like Doctor, Lawyer, or engineer, college isn't worth the investment of time and money. My biggest reason for not wanting my children to go to college is so they don't become indoctrinated into the woke bs. My children are in private school and already have their own investment portfolios. They will never hurt for money as long as they understand basic finances, that most schools don't teach these days. College for most is just a party place with one dimensional education. The real world doesn't operate like that.

Socialized Health Care actually is one of the only few socialized things that does work better than private. The fact that we act like 100% of what other countries do is not as good as our way is staggering. Between you and your employer subsidization of healthcare it costs more than the government just taxing you like $5000 a year (people don't seem to see how much is paid out in total healthcare costs in total because most employees pay 20% of it but the other 80% comes out of your compensation package weather you like it or not! Hospitals can still be privite even with a government run transaction system. The VA is a disaster and is a government run hospital which is different though(i spent years of my life there and was a volunteer for a summer as well)

Agreed. Although he came across as a somebody who had wrong notions of socialism vs volunteerism. He should have been more thoughtful in asking some questions while trying to prove a point. Charlie accepted that some part of socialism such as police, fire guard is necessary. But the professor was trying to push the coin further and further. Personally, I think government has a role to play in educating. There are very few jobs that require 4 year college degree. It's not government's role to push loans on unsuspecting students to pursue degrees that don't result in gainful long term employments. Most liberal arts college degrees are a waste of money. Once the number of degree holders are reduced, there will be less education loans, more "trade" jobs, less spending and the job market will reduce requirements so most jobs won't need degrees. It helps youngsters to have no loans/debts to be paid off.
