I’m so disappointed in what’s happened to Las Vegas. I was late teens early twenties when I first started going in late 90s- all the rooms cheap, food deals were insane, was not sooooooo damn crowded, NO place charged for parking, etc etc.. now it’s just a joke ripoff on every single aspect- I wish millions would boycott LV for many months forcing them to bring back down to earth and value the customers.

Not hating but just a heads up to anyone watching this , I’m from Vegas 37 of 43 years ( I always come home 😁) and I’ve not ever seen Four Card Monty or any of that type Hustle in Vegas ever in My entire life The casinos will get that BS out of there from around their properties in an instant Also , I have not ever had anyone try to pull the scam of trying to hand me something “ for free “ That’s a scam hustle Neither way you look at it I haven’t ever had that happen But I have in NYC but I wasn’t falling for that BS Just be aware and you’re all good Even the dudes trying to get people into clubs They’re usually gonna tell you the truth unless they’re dumb af So it’s always possible But most of all they get paid for You to go in so they just want you to go in and kick it Some of them will still cost You $20 for entrance but just ask If they say they’re getting you in free then they are. Bet that They’re just trying to get the clubs packed and of course the club assumes that means they’ll sale drinks for $15 + ea. but a lot times you do not even have to buy a drink, I know at Mandalay Bay You didn’t have to But I’m not 100 really anywhere else on that 1. For Dudes, the strip clubs They’ll get your group in free and the ride Real Talk They expect you’re going to start spending once you get there but you usually don’t have to Just ask before you have them come pick you up or not Once you get in there with the females you’ll start drinking & tipping though It’s inevitable 😁
@kingdingaling2469 Жыл бұрын
The casinos are the biggest scams out there Not anyone out on the strip Just like the 1st comment The hustles are the Disneys’s & all that BS They’re making insane $ & people still pay that BS People need to stop going and make them come down But … I get it If you have the $ it’s better paying more because then there’s less & less of the undesirables there So…. If you can afford it then it is worth paying it

My parents went to Las Vegas for years in the 70’s-90’s and stayed at the Westward Ho next to Circus Circus. Westward Ho was a Motel with only two stories. We would get 99 cent shrimp cocktail. A whole cup of those tiny shrimp with sauce. I was a Flight Attendant in the late 80’s and would go to Slots A Fun right in that same area for their $2 Black Jack tables and the dealer and people at the table would help people learn to play. Give the waitress $2.00 as a tip and she would bring any drink you wanted for free. I would walk back to my hotel off the strip with many blocks of walking late at night, past a vacant lot, across a bridge to the hotel we were put up in. Was a little scary walking in the dark, but not a lot of Taxis back then. There was a steak restaurant right across the street with an amazing $8.00 prime rib dinner and a tiny gaming area. A place where locals went. The good old days.

So sad to see the RIO in such bad shape. I was there in its heyday for a friend's birthday...MAN, WHAT A BLAST IT WAS! We rode in the rooftop Mardi-Graw parade. You could pay a fee,(can't remember how much $, I think it was about $20 or so)we would get into costumes and get into the sky buckets that went on the roof tracks and to join the "Rio Carnivale".There was a cast dressed in full-on Mardi-Graw New Orleans-type costumes and it was a party like no other! You would ride all around the casino in the sky buckets and throw down beads, trinkets, and tokens for free play to the people down on the floor under you. The whole casino had a party at the time and free drinks, streamers, and beads flying everywhere! It was THE place to be in the 90s for sure! The steak house was fabulous and the parties they threw on the roof were legendary! Fireworks off the top roof and great bands would play. The rooms were spotless and reasonable. In those days, all you had to do was show your airline ticket proving you traveled there and they would comp you all kinds of discounts and some free gambling. The old Vegas was much more fun and much classier to come to. The Tiger exhibit at the Mirage and the Volcano was Great! Then there were the sharks in the tunnel you could walk through. It was so much fun before the days of Vegas becoming a daycare for kiddies! There should be NO PLACE in Vegas for babies & kids ---EVER! Vegas was and should have been kept an adult playground. Then the demise of what it has become is all about getting and charging hidden and outrageous fees with the decline in quality and upswing of crime. So very sad that your generation never knew it as it was then.

I told him i was sorry but i didn't smoke. I am retired military and wear my baseball cap with my military insignia on it. I served 24 years and am proud of my career. The guy then asked if i had killed anyone lately. I thought this was a very odd question. I told him not lately. He said thats ok your going to burn in hell for it. I told him i would see him there. He said he wasn't going to hell. I told him he didn't understand, that Satan had me there taking names of people going to hell and he was at the top of my list. He had a strange look but didn't answer. I then walked away and wondered what that was all about. Later i figured that maybe they were checking to see if they wanted to try to rob me and had decided against it.

I was a bartender at a local bar. Was a lot of fun. My daughter still lives there, so we go back every 2 yrs or so. Stay at a Ceasars property and gamble. Haha. It's so expensive now to eat! Luckily, my current hubbys cousin loans us a car and my daughter keeps us up to date on good locals spots so we don't eat on the strip. Miss them old days!

For low cost transportation and safety, you left out the city buses and the monorail. If you have only carry on luggage, you can ride the bus from the airport for way less than a taxi. Uber and Lyft may be no bargain compared to taxis. Remember Surge (higher) Pricing when they are busy! There is a city bus that runs along The Strip. No crazy long routes in a taxi that has a surprise cost at the end. The bus driver is not going to overcharge, sexually attack, rob or kidnap you. The monorail is limited in that it only goes between casinos for a part of the Strip, but not to Fremont St., old downtown Vegas. It is clean, safe and low cost, but more than the bus. Don't ride taxis if you want to save money.

Somebody just won 1.2 million on the Wheel of Fortune at the airport. I was there once and played video poker, .25 cent denom, and won $800. So, it can be done.

Yes, thanks for sharing! You can definitely get lucky at the airport, despite the poor odds!

I always hit at the airport, 200/300 or more. But I don’t put it back in, I walk away with my money.

This the corporate take over of the Strip. They have no clue how we were built. We offered excellence for your dollar. When you gambled at a resort, we made sure to add enticements such as free dinners, shows, rooms, booze and whatever else you might want. The amount of free offers increased with your gambling. No one ever thought of charging to park, that came directly from corporate bosses who came from New York. They figured if you want to stay somewhere you will pay extra. My problem is Las Vegas is no longer the only place to get this type entertainment. We just might price ourselves out of business, especially since we are not , as a nation, rolling in the bucks. Having lived here all my life, born here in 1955, with my family involved with all things Vegas...I would hate to see these corporations destroy my town as they have many other things in our country. We no longer have the Binion's, Wynn's, Kerkorian's, Hughes or the Gaughan's or the various mobsters who privately owned their resorts and allowed invention and creativity to develop the city I remember.

Avoid all casinos that use continuous shuffle machines and reduce the blackjack premium from 3-2 to 6-5. That’s almost all the casinos in Las Vegas.

All of this is why I stopped coming to Las Vegas. I have been 3 times total with my wife and each visit got worse and worse. Even gambling at the Orleans casino on a weekday morning I was approached two separate times by hookers. I am in some gaming FB groups and the number of posts sharing HORRIBLE trips to Vegas keeps growing. The greed has gone crazy.

Yes, when you go to one of the seediest casinos, you should expect that.

I just came back two weeks ago. The Taxi was actually $10 cheaper than Uber. TBH, Check both. The taxis charge a standard fee, so you can look to see which is cheaper. It's nice to give Taxis a fair chance, especially since they are cheaper 😮

The last time I was in Las Vegas 6 years ago, I won a big amount of money on a slot machine in the airport, and I was betting the minimum bet.

All great advice. Filor Bank of America customers there is a BofA ATM on the 4th floor of the M&M store on the strip. It's in the back corner by the race car and restrooms.

That ''fake'' photographer is actually good! Because he has a big light unit that helps the photograph's quality and clarity at night. I made photos with my iPhone first and it was not a good photo because of the light shining off the Vegas sign, And with the photographer light unit, it came out perfect. The price was $20, which is well worth it.

So love you guys. Such a pleasure to watch. I live in Canada. It will be my first time in the US in April of this year. Thanks for all your do’s and don’t . Can’t wait to go to Vegas. Just not sure which resort to stay at. I did not know about resort fees. That’s a new one. Did they have resort fees prior to COVID? The Tropicana will be closed April 2 of this year. Which resort do you recommend? Something nice ,not to expensive.
@sharonla80719 ай бұрын
Resort fees are not new but they are higher now. Be sure to check before you go.

I remember when the adventure dome was built. I believe i was in 9th grade at Cheyenne high school. I also remember when you shouldn't walk down Freemont at anytime of day before the the big roof/light show went up. Cool vids I just stumbled on this one today and will check out some more.
