"Belgian Made Browning". Very cool lyrics as Browning's haven't been made in Belgium for years to my knowledge. My father has a Belgian made Browning, very proud of it as he's the one that told me that was original manufacturing site, but not any longer.

This belgian made brown- is actually referred to in one maybe two other songs that Evan Falker wrote from HCT. In the song house fire his granddaddys brown is one of the only things he is sure to get out with. I had a house fire, my first house when I was about 20 years old. That song nails that feeling, and i to escaped with my family ,ran back in for my dog and my hunting guns one being my grandfather's. The reference to ole jim shows a shared love for a hound . Another song from Evan i love equally is Southeastern Son . With mention of hunting guns and a country boy who found his purpose and gift in the pines and the clear-cuts once again I can relate. And those songs hit me in a way I can't describe except to say ,not alone. Even Falker is in the top 5 song writers ever. I also have an interesting Browning . Its a .270 bolt action, gold inlay, definitely the finest rifle i have or will ever own. Thing is it is stamped on the barrel, made in Belgium .on the other side of the barrel is, browning arms company st.Louis Mo. And Montreal Pq. ? Not sure the mon.conection but !

I have listened to this song about 20 times and each time I pick up something else. A lot of sadness and loss at having given 12 years to something that didn't work out. I am not sure if it's hope or disillusionment when sings "bet we dance on the fourth of July". What a great song, the imagery....just poetic. The insturments; especially the fiddle busting out toward the end turns the song into an anthem.
