Since immersion plays a big part in the Turok series, the Xbox version is the only contender for the job in this case, as it has the fastest load times, crystal clear soundtrack and effects, and it also features an actual lighting engine that brings a huge improvement to the visuals. The lighting especially makes the environments look more realistic as you see the blasts from your weapons illuminate foliage and enemies nearby and there’s even some metallic surface effects on walls and some items. As for the other versions, they’re not even close since they all lack many of the nice visual presets from the Xbox version. The GCN version in particular looks weirdly contrasted and saturated, has a jumpy frame rate, low quality soundtrack, the loading is also not fast enough to be considered fast or short but it at least loads faster than the PS2 version, and the lower number of buttons means that the Alternate control setting lacks the original Turok-style control scheme from the Xbox and PS2 versions and was replaced with inverted analog stick controls instead. The PS2 version has higher quality soundtrack, shares the same control setups as the Xbox version, and looks more vibrant, but a lot of the time the foliage appears in front of the player as you move through the jungles. On top of this, the PS2 version is only 2 players as opposed to 4 players in the GCN and Xbox versions, and it runs terribly, often chugging and running below 30 FPS, and rarely hitting 60 FPS. The sound effects are also poorly compressed, and the load times are ridiculous. The PC port is one of the most horribly done ports I’ve seen. I'm not sure why it exists.

Imagine prioritizing even the better of the sub-par graphics over superior controls. The PC version exists for those who like to play FPS titles the way they were meant to be. Besides, you could get different results with different PC hardware, not to mention 3rd party visual enhancements.

Here’s my take, just from this video alone: PS2 Pros: 1) Better low-light contrast than PC Cons: 1) Worst performance 2) Lowest quality graphics GameCube Pros: 1) Highest console frame-rate 2) More saturated colors (if you like that) 3) Better low-lighting contrast than PC Cons: 1) Lower-quality graphics than Xbox and PC Xbox Pros: 1) Smoother than PS2; not as smooth as the GameCube, but great 2) Console graphics with the most clarity and highest-quality models and vegetation, while maintaining the better lighting contrast of the other two consoles Cons: 1) Graphics not as clear as PC 2) Frame-rate slower than GameCube and PC PC Pros: 1) Highest quality vegetation and models 2) Visuals with most clarity 3) High frame-rate Cons: 1) Lack of color contrast I think, without knowing anything else, I would go with the Xbox version.

On console, the GameCube looks best overall to me. I don't really pay attention to PC, I know it usually looks best, but I rarely play on PC.

Too bad in your comparison you forget to specify the number of frames per second such as the GameCube version which runs at 60FPS

Xbox is 60fps too, but 30fps is entirely playable anyway

The frame rate in the GameCube version is quite choppy though. It runs fine in some sections but oftentimes the frame rate suffers, but not as much as the PS2 version where it mostly runs below 30 FPS, however. The PS2 version also hits 60 FPS but very rarely. Neither the PS2 or GameCube are as stable as the Xbox version which maintains a steady 30 FPS at all times, not to mention its superior sound and visuals. Sadly the PC port is lackluster.

So purely visually, the game cube version appeals to me the most. The PC version has better and higher resolution textures, but the light and shadows are catastrophic. But since the nightdive studio has currently implemented turok 1 and 2 for PC and next gen consoles as a great remaster and part 3 is coming soon, one can perhaps even hope for "turok evolution". nightdive studios do a very good job when it comes to retro games. and more and more old top titles are coming out.

Actually I don't know about this game, and have never seen or played it. But I saw on Wikipedia about this game, and the best game rating about this game is the GBA version, and the second is the Gamecube version, but I don't see a comparison of the GBA version in this video. Overall the gamecube and xbox version are the best. The gamecube runs smoothly and it runs at 60 fps. The version is little bit slow but graphics looks ten times better than the PS2 and PC version does. I never play the PC version but the why it looks it has no dynamic lightning effects. I play the PS2 version alot when I was a kid but now today the PS2 version looks like N64 game and it plays like too. I play the first three games back on N64 days and I know it's runs.

Gamecube runs buttery smooth. But the textures are lower resolution and its missing a lot of enemy and wildlife placement from the xbox version.

Gamecube loading time is surprisingly long. PS2 water being more transparent than even PC water is weird. It totally explains the poor framerate, though. Gamecube looks silky smooth in terms of the framerate, just about in line with the PC version. PC looks TOO sharp for an early 6th gen game. I feel like the higher framerate of the Gamecube version makes the game a better experience. If you're going to play a crummy game, might as well be at 60FPS.

the auto-aim is the only thing that makes the ps2 version playable lol, the fps is so bad you would miss so many shots otherwise, but still performs better than turok 2 on n64 :^)

The GC has a smoother color pallet while lower texture settings. The Xbox looks sharper with a similar color pallet as the PS2. The PS2 looks the worst here.

Xbox wins on graphics, Gamecube wins on framerate/control, PS2 wins on accessibility (unless you're emulating it) PC wins on load times. I'd go for the Gamecube version personally.

Framerate is king. It may look more muddy (I'm assuming they're not using a Wii with component cables), but the framerate is silky smooth. 60FPS
