We found it! The double bearings under the turret spider were really greasy and there was a piece of plastic that would occasionally stop the turret spider from returning to home position! Thanks for the advice and great videos!

I’ve got a couple buckets that need replacing. But haven’t caused any issues so I haven’t gotten to them. Yet.

Do you know if there is a way to raise the wrack when it's stuck down without messing up the pins? Cuz usually I have to reset the machine and then wait for them to tell me what pins were where.

It's a great video. When I was younger I worked on A-2's, as well as AMF 82-30 and 82-70, for many years. They are mechanical wonders. I'd like to add something. If there is a pin, or pins, laying on top of the deck chutes for whatever reason, and they push up the turret when the deck returns to 0 position and causes a turret blackout, even if briefly, this will release the 5 pin lock and cause the turret to dump 10 pins on top of the pins already in the deck, eventually causing a pretty good deck jam. This doesn't happen often, usually when there is a 5-pin jam or pins are falling out of the turret into the deck prematurely and piling up.

Thanks for the additional info. We never know everything so it’s good to hear others experiences. I like the 8270 in it’s quality of spotting pins but the Brunswick is more of a fascination in mechanics to me. It truly has a mechanical brain and can think on its own.

It looks like you're using a lot stronger spring to return the interlocking probe than we do so I assume that you are using an aftermarket spring. My boss added a small spring to the spider and back to the turret wire to return the spider to the home position. I don't think that is necessary due to the fact that momentum appears to be what returns the spider home. It worked much better after we changed the 5 bucket trigger. This video is very helpful to me in particular as I'm new at this.

It’s what was on there when I got the machine. Doesn’t mean it’s correct but if it is then maybe yours is incorrect. I hope I showed enough things to help you look at yours to compare. Making sure your blocking fingers are adjusted right to the interlock probe is a big thing. Sometimes that interlock probe can hit the trip arm for the turret clutch as it goes by. I forgot that one. Check the clearance of the probe as it goes over the arm that gets tripped when the turret releases that trips the turret clutch. It’s over the 9 pin bucket. The clearance is tight as it is so make sure the probe doesn’t drag on it when it goes by. If it does it would cause the turret to index once on its own out of sequence then you’d probably end up with a double 7 pin.

@@GarageBowlingAlley we're using the factory part number spring. That doesn't mean that it's right as far as right. Thanks to your videos I may have fixed a long standing problem! Thanks for the great videos!

The left locking finger is what prevents a restricted drop, cause if it were to malfunction then the turret would be able to empty while the deck is down in 180.

Exactly. I may not have explained that well enough. Pretty ingenious system Brunswick come up with. It’s an amazing piece of machinery

Whata re some potential issues when the turret won't index past 5

Couple things you can check, make sure your trip lever arm is contacting the torsion latch after the 5 pin drops. If not, that will definitely cause it not to index. Make sure your time delay gear is rotating when the torsion latch is tripped and if it is, watch to see if your indexing trip latch cycles when the time delay gear rotates.
