Hope all the best for you with your vehicle decisions. Cheapest solution: replace the fan in your van for now. Since you're considering towing, make sure you aren't getting something beyond what your vehicle can tow and make sure to calculate total weight including your build and belongings, otherwise you're looking at a whole bunch of problems with transmission, etc. down the road. Minivans aren't built to tow much weight. Good luck with everything, hope it all works out.

Take back to where you had work done (warranty) have it checked w/steering issue. New viewer here, how old is the turtle top? Don’t want to sink too much into it if not worth the investment. Less complicated things are, the better! Oh, you just answered my question, 33 years old! Oh boy. I think you know the answer already I think. You’re a sweet, positive gal. Keep your chin up!! 🙏🏻🌞

Well, thank you and welcome to the channel.I can't take it back to where the work was done.Because I bought the parts and my nephew put them on for me, so it's not an issue of faulty work it's just an issue of we just didn't get the right part to fix the problem and I'm thinking right now.I'm not gonna put any more money into it.I think i'm just going to sell it.

I have a 2006 and went to Autozone where I purchased a can of refrigerant for 47 bucks. I’m not sure why 2008 would be too old and take a different type of refrigerant when my 2006 the normal refrigerant that is sold in the store today.

It's a 1992 and it uses R12 refrigerant. No one here carries it, I even went to the dealership and they said no.

Sorry to hear about all the issues with the Turtle top, but appreciate how calm you are about figuring out what to do. As my mom used to say “No use crying over spilled milk”. I think it’s how we approach issues that make the difference. I wish everyone could look at things this way. Just keep smiling, things will work out.

My mom used to say that too ☺️. I usually don't get too upset over things other than my dogs, lol 😆

Good to see that you returned home safely. I can relate about spending more money on your Turtle Top Van r/t it's age, the availability of parts and reliable mechanics to do repairs, that would worry me. My dad, brother-in-law (owned his own shop), plus a nephew were mechanics, I miss having them available to work on my car. A good mechanic is as important as a good doctor, IMO. Kudos to you for going out to work, fingers crossed work picks up for you this long holiday weekend. Be safe ☮

You got that right! I miss my dad, brother and hubby. Never needed a shop back then!!

From a hybrid viewpoint - the prices of vans have skyrocketed in the last 6/8 months, even ones that need work (seriously I've been looking), maybe do some research see what you can get for the turtletop and at the very least you could get the money back that you have put into it which is free and clear. Once you do that you have the option of either picking up a travel trailer (those have gone the opposite direction at least up here and you can pick decent ones up for cheap - I'd not be looking at vans if I had something with towing capacity and any skill with towing- I'm hopeless, you aren't lol) or going with outfitting a storage trailer... the freedom for that is once you get to a place you can unhitch, lock up and then you have a 'car' .. anyway just a suggestion to look into.

I watched your video of the initial repairs of the brakes, etc. That van needs a lot more than just ball joints and brakes. It's a complete rusty disaster under there, way to many parts need replacement than I have time to list. That thing is a money pit and a big waste of good money. Too bad you spent all that money on the parts, tires, and alignment. Give it a good wash and list it for sale ASAP! Take the money and buy something that is not rusted out. My mom is about your age and I would NOT let her drive around in something in that poor of condition. Very dangerous and unsafe. Good luck and I hope it all works out for you!

Thanks for commenting. I was very hopeful about this Van and being that I bought it in the wintertime. I really didn't do a very good inspection of it before I bought it. And although I do like it it's more of a money pit for me. Than I was anticipating anticipating. So I am agreeing with you and I think I'm going to just try to sell it and see if I can recoup some of my money.

@@ChessiesAdventures Next time take your nephew or a mechanic with you and have him test drive the vehicle and always look under the vehicle for rust and worn out parts, check all the fluids and look for metal shavings and sludge in the oil and transmission fluids. Turn on the heat, air, run through all the electrical components (door locks, wiper blades, etc) to be sure they work and take your time and don't get in a hurry. Don't buy anything without a thorough inspection and never buy anything because it's pretty to the eye. Mechanically sound and no rust is of the most important. I think selling it is a great decision on your part. I subscribed so I can stick around and see what you get to replace the van. Best wishes to you.

Sell the Turtletop and buy a nice cargo trailer, put the AC and electric in. You might consider a no build build in your minivan as an alternative as well. Have you towed a trailer before? It does take a bit more work to set up camp and tear down camp with a trailer, but its not too bad if you don't mind the extra work. And sometimes you have to set up and tear down dealing with the weather, which is not always fun. Also make sure to find out what the tow capacity of your minivan is and what your tongue weight limit is.

Yeah, I think I'm going to keep the minivan. Try to buy a small cargo trailer like a 6 x 10 or a 6 x 12 I don't want anything bigger than that for this van. This minivan can tell 3660 pounds. But I want to keep it at 80% of that.So that leaves me with a small trailer. But that's okay.Because that would be all I need right nowThis minivan can tell 3660 pounds. But I want to keep it at 80% of that. So that leaves me with a small trailer. But that's okay. Because that would be all I need right now. And yes, I have pulled trailers before.I was a truck driver for twenty seven years.

Mileage on the mini van is probably better than the turtle top van. Gas prices will likely go up over the years so that is an important consideration. It is no fun to have problems with your vehicle. Hope you have a great weekend !

well my chevy venture died a year ago- she had three hundred thousand miles- the doors were shut her transmission had been replaced- and then the rebuilt transmission died again so i junked her for 275 bucks- one day it will happen to you- youll wake up and find out you cant walk- you cant see you cant really do anything- It happened to me a double thrombosis and cataracts Im out of comission- instead of planning for the car plan for yourself you cant live in a van if you are too sick- and it comes with age- So start thinking about where are you going to nurse an illness possibly the first of many- think about yourself

I'm sorry that all happened to you but I decided a long time ago that I refused to sit around and just wait to die and that's what I feel like sitting here.I'm not gonna turn myself into an old person. If 1 day I wake up and there's something wrong with me.I will deal with it at that point until then.I'm going to live life like there is no tomorrow.

Good afternoon 😁. I'm pet sitting all weekend at a lake. My search says it could be tie rod ends, steering nut, ball joints which you fixed, damaged rack and pinion, damaged pitman arm. Hmmm

I had this little metal scewer thing I'd poke in my vent every once in a while in my 2002 explorer. Sometimes the vents shut themselves.
