I hate to be Simon here. But Nu Xeem just want to collect her husband's life insurance money. That's how I see it. As Hmong men (Hmong women is a different story), no one can force you to marry if you dont want to. Nu Xeem married his 1st wife because he liked her in some way back then. Then realized he made a mistake and regretted it. That's all. I say this because my dad was in a similar situation too. My dad's older brother died from the war. My grandpa forced him to marry his SIL. He ran away and the marriage never went through. My dad was somewhere between 14-15 years old at the time. This Nu Xeem guy knew what he was doing back then. This isn't a love story where they got separated by fate. Nu Xeem wanted his 1st wife more and chose her instead. Her true savior and love was her husband. He saved her at her most vulnerable time. Loved her until his last breath. Not Nu Xeem. She should have told her and her husband's story. Anyways, Happy Valentine's Day to all the couples out there

Agree, nu xyeem is one of those Hmong men that got a Hmong girl pregnant and never wanted to own up to his responsibilities. She even contemplated suicide, it’s fucked up that they got back together in the end after her husband that accepted her died. Maybe nu xyeem does want that huge insurance money.
