@Mr Haze nothing really, this is training footage of the "Tuscania" paratrooper division of the Carabinieri, wich is a military operated police force ( they do both police and military interventions). However, in 90's Italy a season of political terrorism had just ended, a season that lasted from the late 60s to the early 80s, almost 20 years, that caused a lot of dead and injured in the civilian population at the hand of both neofascists and communists (altough most dead were at the hand of fascists) and led to the kidnapping and killing of the italian prime minister, Aldo Moro, at the hand of the communists. You can easily find informations about it on the internet if you want to dig deeper into that, or you can also ask me, I'll be glad to help

I was in primary school when this song came out, and the year before us was having some sort of elections in school that for some reason included our year, all the candidates came one by one and tried to explain their program to befudled us, but one of them candidates just placed a yuge boombox on the teacher´s table and played his mix, it was this song and it had a voice over with his voice and this were the lyrics "vooota Carlos Ruiz, voootame a mi" vooota carlos ruiz, voootame a mi " (vota carlos ruiz, vote me) over and over, with the music (I know you are singing it now replaying the video, elooongate the o, with the music, dont make it "u". It left us fascinated and cringing in equal parts, I always remember and maybe the purpose was for me to share today, I hope to be released from the curse and forget forever, sorry guys, its yours now. (also carlos didnt win, or did he? honestly dont remember)

Italians really started to show its teeth in 1990s. Before that, during Cold War, Italian soldiers were still armed with BM59 Battle Rifle (when US left the use of M14), outdated by doctrine.
