We did it one week ago. 6,5 hours of pure concentration. Amazing landscapes, beautiful nature, deep silence outside and inside ( ;) )and an unforgetable trip! Start in the morning when you want drive yourself and take your time to drive save and make enough brakes to enjoy the moment. And remember, that the first 20 km are the heaviest, then the road becomes more comfortable. The most drivers quit at the first 20 km. We had best weather, otherwise i wouldn’t do it! Thanks to all the good people, that we mett on our way :)

Great quality of video. Amazing views and really extremely dangerous road.. Just arrived from Tusheti, Omalo yesterday. Stayed there for one night. Honestly never seen any videos or photos of Tusheti road. Just drove there. We loved this extreme breathtaking trip..

Great shots! I"ve tried to pass this road last year. Our Fiat Scudo Long van with front wheels drive only, had to surrender on one of the many turns leading up. It was too dangerous, considering 5 yo kid on our board...

I drove a rental Subaru forester in July 2023 up and down. It takes about 4 to 5 hrs to reach Omalo. They have widened the road so incoming traffic is not really a problem. The road is very rocky, it’s first gear 99% of the time unless you want to break a sway bar or strut. I’d say it’s rocks, rocks and rocks and lots of hairpins in latter part. You’ll need an AWD because of ground clearance but 4x4 is not necessary unless in extreme weather. Not really dangerous if you’re focused just demanding 100% attention to driving.

the best video of this road that ive found (and perfect music to overlay it with!). i did this road last september and loved the drive in my Jeep! Both ways we were stopped for 30-40mins because of rockfalls onto the road and had to wait while the excavator cleared the way for us. I will do the road again this year at some point, i hear it opened up about a week ago after clearing the snow, but the view is non existant at road level as there is 8ft snow each side of you for large parts of it! I will probably go again in september before it starts snowing again!

HI! Im thinking to do same road trip! Did you rent the car or also with a driver? I Love to drive but some friends scared me saying is not possible if you don't know the roads... Im goin in July.. so nsuposuse to be dry.... Can you help me with my decision please???
@TravelingTunas5 жыл бұрын
Hi, we rent only car without driver and drove it by ourselves, it is possible. The road was dry in september. But if you are not sure, go with a local driver. It is up to you...

@@TravelingTunas Thanks a lot for the answer. Im going in July so I hope it will be dry!! I love driving and that road looks awesome for it :) BTW, how many days were you around there?

Depends on your driving skills and experience. Use only 4x4 car, I drove automatic gearbox, but better and safer with manual.
