Making this bag as I type this. I'm using double strand #4 yarn since that's all I have atm. I'm also using a smaller loom (bigger ones have blankets in them lol) so this will be good for small shops. Love this stitch. Wish I could show you my finished project when I'm done.

Hi Alena! Sorry, I haven't measured the weight of items. The bag is not very big (we should use a larger loom to make it bigger), so I guess it's not a bag for great shopping, just a few things

You likely did the bind off too tightly. That's a common problem. Work your bind off stitches very loosely. You don't want to tighten them up as you bind them off. Keep them quite loose.

I have a been given a very large ball of wool (yarn) which is thin (I'm not sure of the terminology. If it's not bulky weight will that be a huge difference? Or just not a luxurious?
