I really wish I had the room for this, it's so pretty!! All the tubes! I could sit in front of it and stare at them to meditate, lol

I do 'meditate' in front of it! It's just so lovely to stare at a wall of colour. You can put these boards up on the wall if you are tight for space.

All my walls are covered with desks, storage and art lol XD And I don't trust my cats with the tubes...
@OtoKano6 жыл бұрын
Ah yes, that is fair enough if you've got cats. Hanging tubes will just be a wall of toys for them!

I would love to see your collection displayed like this!!! The only time consuming bit is putting the hooks in. All the other stages goes pretty quick.

I also had the idea to buy an old large painting from a thrift store and drilling holes thru the canvas and hammering dowels in or using pegboard cut to the right size for the frame and doing the same thing for smaller collections (If you worry about drilling the holes straight, I use an offcut of pegboard as my template and drill thru those)
@threesixfiveart5636 жыл бұрын
I just did this on my pegboard. I love it!! I had more paint than I thought. I bought the wrong size binder clips, mine are too big, but it works ok still. Thanks for the idea!

Thank you for the detailed explanation of each step. I have a back cover from an acrylic canvas pad (12 × 16"). Now I can hang the specific colors for the painting I am currently working on, and switch them out for the next painting, etc.

I do this for my paintings, and every few months I take the old ones down, and start again. Same command hooks, just wire and mini clips to hang across three lines. It takes up a lot of wall space. Great work and they look gorgeous!!

Woooo never thought of using wires. Thank you for the inspiration!

Interesting concept...the thought of doing this is brewing... It would save space and make the whole window blocking space in my van productive. I have a bunch of watercolour and gouache tubes... With more to buy as finances permit... Thank you so much for sharing Oto

Really hope you make this board, it has made my life so much easier!

Okay, so I went ahead and did this method with the screw hooks, instead of using a full wall of wood I had some spare planks from once upon a time lying around and used bungee cords to keep them to a side of one of my shelves when I finished my work here. To make life substantially easier, what I did was drill an initial hole with a power drill and used a bit that was less than the diameter of the hook's screw portion that I was using (I used cup hooks that were a size 1 1/4", which has little to nothing to do with the diameter of the screw part). Now, instead of turning and twisting till my hands hurt (very big issue for me personally) I just put the hooks in so that they were simply in the hole and then attached an eye screw(look it up for image) to my power drill and looped it into my hook that was already set up to the wood which I then used the drill to move the screw hook into the hole I already made. Took me roughly 20-40 minutes for 20 hooks after measuring how I wanted them spaced out, marking them, drilling in the holes and hooks, and a little cleaning. To those who aren't even considered amateurs but curious in working on anything wooden for this little project(like me), I can't stress enough ventilation for when you make those holes (dust aside, there are plenty of different kinds of wood out there and if you see/smell smoke while drilling wood it's almost certainly not good of you to breathe that in). I chose this method of organization because its both the simplest and most effective I could find regarding one's craft abilities/tools and cost (My hooks were $4 for 20 from the grocery store and they were antique looking, you can easily get more or less in different sizes and costs like $5 for 50 brass hooks at a hardware store in the screws section). I'm using these for my 4-6 oz liquitex and artist loft paint tubes as I want to look at them this way before I choose my colors for a painting. Grab a glass of milk for making it this far reader, it's a good habit to read what you can before committing to projects/purchases from those who have tried it or something similar(looks eerily at corner of poor tools that have seen next to no use).

Great idea! But one question: the sunlight doesn't it destroy the watercolor when it shine on it?
@OtoKano6 жыл бұрын
It would dry out watercolour if you leave them in the sun, but so not best to place the board where they'll be in the direct sun. I move my studio around with the season so I can move my boards out of the sun when the direct sun starts to come in strong.

Why do you need so many colours?
@OtoKano3 жыл бұрын
because it's my job to test out as many watercolors for people, so they can make an informed choice about what paints to buy. Basically, I buy many, so you can just buy the colors that work for you and not be dissapointed or waste money.
