Thanks a lot for this great tutorial! Quite a tedious construction, congratulations on your skills and efforts :) Btw, I should tell you that I'm dying to see how you've achieved your great "Solid Surface Hollow Sphere"... :)

Dandrelin Thanks! I still intend to create a tutorial for the Solid Surface Hollow Sphere. BTW, that is another tedious build!

Hey, I was wondering what is the best deal on buying the magnets in bulk, what site did you use to get this many?
@sonyador64758 жыл бұрын
I bought my magnets from Zen Magnets before they became unavailable. I don't know where to buy 5 mm magnet spheres right now. I'm hoping Zen Magnets will be able to sell them again at some point.

That's one of the best looking designs yet. I must ask a question though, Were these designs created by computer, or did someone actually take the time, dozens of hours to work through the trial and error?

This build required only a little time to prove out the idea of filling the layered cuboctahedron frame in the center, and then again to work out the method of joining the layered cuboctahedron frames on the square face. Other builds of mine have required quite a bit more experimentation and development. Only one has benefited from computer modeling: www.flickr.com/photos/94129525@N07/14485526332/in/photostream/. Here's the model: www.flickr.com/photos/94129525@N07/14575336444/in/photostream/

How many magnets did you use for this?
@xZockusx8 жыл бұрын
+DreamSoundGaming Its 193 magnets for one of those cubeoctahedron.

why flip them again?
@sonyador64758 жыл бұрын
Each layer of the cuboctahedron is made with 8 triangular rings and any two triangles that touch at a point have opposite magnetic orientation. When I create 8 rings for a given layer, flipping four of them gives them the opposite magnetic orientation.

Zen magnets just got banned AGAIN few weeks ago I have around 4000 Neocube spheres I got for around $140 I’m hoping zen magnets comes back. My Neocube are 4.8mm I’ve had then for about 4 years and I see no signs of wear or fading fuck I had a question and now I forget 🙄

Zen Magnets sent out an email this week (11/16/2017) saying the ban is postponed until January. If you want some, take advantage of this window of opportunity. And let me know when you remember your question. :)
