@@b28mathstutor it was a massive plate I measured around. Sorry I don't know the exact size

@@abooie No worries, thanks for responding. I've found another tutorial that tells me the diameter of the bag is roughly (diameter of circle + 1 inch) ÷ 2, which makes sense.

Brilliant!! I will be making one of these as a make up bag to take on holiday, saves me having to empty the contents of my regular one on the bed to try and find what I’m looking for. Thank you!!

Love this! I just made one, with a little trial and error. I used an old men's dress shirt that was going to be tossed and a water resistant sling bag that was also going to be tossed. It came out great! Now I'll be able to set it down on a damp counter and not have it get wet! Thanks for the video!!

Any black girls watching this and thinking it would also make a great sleep bonnet? 😂😂😴 Mine are elastic and would always get stretched out after a couple of months, however this one is drawstring so could last a lot longer. Thanks so much for the great video! I think I also have your blog.

Instructions were great! I just made one. 90 minutes is about right. I cut a 19-inch diameter circle...1/2-inch seam. So 18 inches. Not sure if you really need the notches...they are just for orientation. Two marks would suffice. Thank you. I used quilting fabric. You can use interface in between the fabric, but I think it would stiffen it too much.

Candice Oglesby hi. Yes. The finished strip (cord casing) has to be long enough to go around the circle. Whatever your circle measures around, you make your strip long enough to to go all the way around. She doesn't give you a measurement because you can make different sizes of your choice. Hope I helped!
@TheNanaweaver5 жыл бұрын
If you make a huge circle and use a larger cord its great for kids and lego toys.

Adorei, Carolina! Bem simplificado, até mesmo para quem nunca usou uma máquina de costura, assim como eu... Vou começar!
@ambyrcherrie448111 ай бұрын
X4 of 1/4 the circle would just be the circumference:) C= 2πr where r is the radius. So if you have the diameter of the circle you've already cut out (say 28cm) then halve that to find the radius (14cm) the circumference of the circle then would be =2π(14) or about 87.96 which you could round to 88cm. Much easier than trying to literally take a measurer around the fabric! And more precise
@BiHomrich7 жыл бұрын
Carol, que peça mais linda!! Amei! Só um detalhe: O comprimento que você mede logo no início não é o diâmetro e sim o comprimento da circunferência. O diâmetro seria o tamanho atravessando o círculo de ponta a ponta. Beijos!
@mattlancaster2553 Жыл бұрын
Thanks, I'll use this. BTW, the distance around the outside of a circle is called "circumference". Diameter is the distance from side to side 😊
@nope...........2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. Question...I cut my two circles the exact same size. I know because I cut the fabrics together lol, wrong-side to wrong-side. I secure the circles with pins, but when I start to sew the top fabric starts to overlap the bottom fabric! The math (or physics) makes no sense to me lol. What am I doing wrong?!

Really helpful, thanks - except that you say diameter (distance straight across the circle) when you mean circumference (distance round the outside).

The word you are looking for is perimeter. Perimeter or circumference. Those are both the distance around the outside of the circle. Diameter is across the middle.

Is the outside measurement of the folded circle a diameter or a circumference? I thought diameter is a straight line that runs thru the center of a circle and ends on the line of the circle on either side.

I am a bit confused what is the dimension of the Circle? also a total of 4 strips cut?
@oldlady13143 жыл бұрын
Dimension would be whatever you want, or whatever fabric you have on hand. The number of strips for the drawstring casing would depend on the diameter of the circle, you can substitute bias tape for that, I believe.

Hi Carolina! I'm about as new as one can be to sewing as I'm about to unpack my new machine. Can you provide some info on the type of fabric you used? Do you prewash the fabric? Could you share general tips on fabric selection for bags? I prefer something sturdy by also soft to the touch. So many cute prints out there but I want to make sure I choose something right for application. Thanks!
