I will have to try your faux leather technique. I make it as well but, I use brown paper bags. I ball the paper up several times and I also rub peices against itself. It loosen the fibers and makes it feel really worn. I then mod podge it let it dry & do whatever stain treatment I choose at the time. Sometimes I do a paint wash on it, other times distress inks, and I have even colored it with the old coffee grounds inside the filter! I love the patched piece on yours, it makes it more organic to me, like it was mended after it was torn open at the time the bags was made or after it had a product inside & sprung a leak! LOL I hope you and the hubby enjoyed a quiet and peaceful holiday together! Happy Thanksgiving Gayle & thanks for putting us before your turkey LOL! *hugs*

I realize it has been almost a year since you made this video, but as a fairly new subbie, I am slowly, but surely, making my way through the older ones. Sharing your kids with their in laws is not much fun, but you seem to have a good attitude about it. It is great that all of your kiddos are on the same schedule. Hopefully they all stay on the same every other year thing so you can have them all together with you this year.

Hi Gayle, I love this technique and have used it on my first Junk journal that I am making for my sister. I followed your original tutorial and just used acrylic paints instead of the antique medium. I believe I ended up using three layers of acrylics along with some distress oxide ink which gave me a wonderful look as I put the metallic acrylic as the first layer so it just peeps through the other darker colours. It turned out beautifully. Absolutely love your channel and just had to tell you how inspiring and fun you are to watch and to thank you for introducing me to the wonderful world of junk journals. Many of my happy accidents have turned into happy results and when something doesn't go quite right I just tell myself it's all part of the learning process! Hugs Quetta 💕
