Iam a kyokushin practitioner, and the "step to the right then kick" technic is a new one to me.. Its really great
@loneronin68135 жыл бұрын
I've always loved and respected Kyokushin, it's my favorite style of Karate. I just wish they had a dojo in my area lol As far as striking goes, most of my experience is in Taekwondo, but I've always been more of a grappler, mostly from Judo and Combat Hapkido. Although I have back issues, I can still use a lot of what I learned from Combat Hapkido and I've lately been adding in some basic Muay Thai since it has some killer low kicks and I can't really kick higher than most people's thigh or stomach anymore. (Depending on which leg I'm kicking with as one allows higher kicks than the other.) While I can't throw hook punches the way I used to due to the torque on my back, I still make good use of jab-cross combinations and for some reason throwing elbows and knees doesn't aggravate my back, which I'm very thankful for :D I'm glad I saw this video too, because it fits well with the way I use footwork and after giving this kick a try, I feel that it's definitely something I can make good use of if I practice it enough. Are there any Kyokushin techniques that you would recommend as particularly effective? Sorry for the ramble there, I tend to get super excited by martial arts and conversations centered around the topic as it's a huge passion of mine. I used to think that I couldn't do much in the way of martial arts anymore because of my back, but lately having found that I can still pull off some basic Muay Thai to strengthen my striking, I feel like I've found a way to keep training. I hope that your training continues to strengthen and enrich your life as well and if you made it through my slog of a comment, you're a true champion my friend haha XD

cool video, you can also jump both feet to the right(means right leg lead first) without left foot in front of right leg(means more squared up and more faster) and then kick, it is a subtle difference. Another way is kick the opponent right inner thigh when step right, the inner thigh is much more weaker and hard to toughen. more squared up means you are less prone to push kick or long kicks, but squared means body punch or jabs or punch might be more possible. During side kicks, lean off the centre line of opponent body and at least more leaned back. and guard up the kicking leg's hand by touch with your side of eye brow to cover the temple. supporting leg during kick drop the elbow but high guard your head to the eyebrow to protect being attacked. the technique shown the leg leg in front can be push kicked more easily but anyway, low kicks are usually bad asses are hard to defend especially when kick the softer spots. btw, the support leg can bend more but during and after low kicking, always return to the ground as soon as possible and also regain balance. if the opponent is a abit too close, use the upper shin to low kick, you can put one hand to jab or push off while you low kick. It is sure bad ass. After low kick prepare to block or launch another low kick or kick. or push kick back if opponent tries to advance.

Nice video! As a Dutch 2 small remarks....we often learn that the placement of the foot is right behind the pad so that the impact of the kick is really from your shin and not your foot (a lot of beginners are doing this wrong). Secondly, to block really hard kicks it is best for the one holding the pad to move your left leg a bit forward, bend it and place your weight on your foot to tighten the muscles in your upper leg (the ones receiving the kick), Otherwise it will be painful, even with a pad when you keep receiving these Duct style low-kicks ;).

To answer all of you yes you must always rotate the supporting leg at some point.That point must be before any undue pressure comes to the support knee ligament/tendon structure.There are two ways to throw,pivot first,rotate body slightly after,or drive shoulder and rotate/whip hip and let the rotation of the pivot door naturally.time and training will do the rest.Thank you to all of your supportive comments!

The foot rotation happens naturally if you understand the logic of this technique, if you don't rotate the foot you block your supporting leg and you loose the kinetic energy and centrifugal force. Yes that's somethinh non-practicians are not aware, it's all about mass, speed and rotation. And also you have to unfold the leg right before hitting, this way you deliver a perfect whipped kick.

I practice Muay Thai myself at a gym called American Top Team. My instructor says that I have skill, but lack experience. My favorite move we've learned so far, (other than any of the clinches) is the low kick. Because of the hardening of our shins, a low kick to the thighs (or calves) can disable an opponent's leg by repeatedly hammering at it.

You are an awesome trainer and person Samir, thanks for the videos! Do you rotate after the jiggle in the hips or do you start rotating before that jiggle? So is it leg goes up hip releases and jiggles then you torque your hips over? Or do you start torquing your hips before the leg gets to that jiggle release point? Cheers mate!

There is some give to the angle, yet the knee does not move into full extension to prevent a hyper extension or lockout.

Rotation of the shoulder and hip occur slightly before the hip jiggle,and then the hip jiggle transforms into a whipping hip action that snaps the down ward cut of the shin .

@SamirSeif4 жыл бұрын
Tips inside the edge of bone just past the hinge to a couple inches up. When I demonstrate on my opponent you can see it’s that hard shin part with the foot instep wrapping around and behind. When I did it on the low kick shield I’m concentrating with my shin but make contact with my foot. I have since redone some videos so you can see the hinge or wrap of my foot makes incidental contact but the concentration of contact is the shin bone.

@illonebaby8 жыл бұрын
oldskool stand with ur hands on a bag and extend your kick all the way out using the bag for balance. drill holding the position until it gets too easy and then hop to keep your balance. If you have a partner let him catch your kick fully extended and drill different ways of keeping your balance. you will need to learn to keep your hands out as well as in. With your hands out it'll be easy to defend elbows and trap his arms. If your doing kickboxing you'll want to learn to keep your hands up and in to defend punches as your wolves will be your main defense.

Hi, Sir I just want to mention something which I noticed. The side step followed by lead foot drag in order to get to the right position means when fighting a pro fighter this will be telegraphing the kick and opponent will already be ready to block if worse not counter it. Ofcourse we can keep them busy with strikes to head and change level but the telegraphing seems obvious. How to fix that? Kindly guide me there. Other than that awesome tutorial just one more thing. The light of the room seems very low... a flash would help tonnes or maybe extra lights on when filming. Peace.
