for someone who doesnt understand vroid very much.... but im trying to learn this was a very hard tutorial to follow.... i dont understand what steps we are taking or why and there were alot of steps here that i saw what you were doing but didnt know myself how to get to that point.... Im sure for others that understand the basics of vroid this was somewhat easier to follow. The wings looked amazing... just wish i could figure out how to follow along without getting lost every step of the way.

@@SyanTheBee not really, but you can use un wrinkled pants tight fitting to mimic thicker legs, and a hoodie adds some bulk. Example: hub.vroid.com/en/characters/6620576853570434539/models/1365000961672563993

Is it possible to add clothing or accessories like this to a finished avatar? Like one you've already finalized in unity? Could I just.. rename the objects or textures / materials and drag them into the finished avatars unity file, and do some voodoo to make it work? I've noticed after finishing up my avatar and adding a bunch of custom emotes that it's probably going to be difficult if not impossible to change the clothing without having to redo everything I've already done in unity. Unless there's a way, but I can't find anyone talking about it.

Yeah, you an switch out textures, but it would be on the same mesh. So if you have a one piece dress, you cant add a hoodie texture to it, has to only be one piece texture

@@ArgamaWitch Ah okay, but you can't transfer the hoodie mesh over? Or say add these wings to a new avatar in unity? When you make new outfits and accessories do you gotta completely redo all the expressions / bone weighting / line color, etc again each time?

@@ragingdollface5587 you can not transfer mesh over. You would have to reexport the avatar after changing clothes. Yeah you have to redo everything

You need to export the hair uncombined and move only the wings over when moving the wing bones

this wings dont flap, they wiggle a bit because I added a bone to each one. If you want them to flap they do need to go into unity

It will in PMXE but you have to turn the vrm model into a pmx model. There's a converter that works well but I think you'll need Blender and Unity to turn the PMX model back into a VRM model.

In theory: Yes In execution: It's.. complicated. Blender uses the same Bones rigging that the other systems use and it does transfer across; however whenever you're adding in bones for rigging you have to pay attention to the weight groups, and how you assign the vertices to each bone group. In blender, because you're editing the meshes directly, you can lose verts if you don't pay attention. if you're comfortable with the blender layout and you know what you're doing, you can totally link up the bone groups or object parents, just save often just in case.

I'm having this same problem and everything i've looked up on google or reaching out to the vrm people is very confusing for me. Basically the program isn't seeing our avatar as humanoids anymore. @@Quinnnlly I did some digging and I found out that you have to download the fbx exporter from the package manager and export your model as an fbx to export it again into vrm its weird so heres the instructions i followed support.soxware.com/en/communities/1/topics/323-only-avatars-created-by-unity-model-importer-are-supported-umotion I hope this helps!

Hey Argama, thanks for the Tutorial, uhm I am having an issue when I am trying to relocate my accessoires. Everytime I wanna drag them in any dimension, it seems like the texture is bound to the original spot. Havent found a way to fix it yet. Do you have any ideas on how to move the entire thing?

When exporting you need to 1) be sure combined hairgroups in the export table isnt selected, 2) the accessory was given a bone, 3) the bone's fixpoint is 0 or as close to 0 as possible. 4) make sure the accessory is as close to orignal point as you can go. and if all of that you still get stretching when moving, you may need to make the top of your accessory texture transparent so you can move it.

@@ArgamaWitch So basically I imported the vrm and bonetransfer file and my vroid model. I created multiple accessoires and added bones to them following your advices. But when I start moving it with the moving tool like 98% of it is moving properly, but 2% of it is being stretched all the way to the new location. And I have no idea how to fix it. It might probably be something simple since I am new to unity. But something I also noticed is, that the bonetransfer doesnt seem to work either anymore. I tried the bonetransfer a few days ago once I had the first accessoire just to be sure it works. And it did. But now changing the bones to a new parent bone doesnt work anymore, eventhough I get the message "successful" in the bottom left corner.

@@ZzXDaMaGedXzZ The bone transfer still works for me. But I find that you need to move the bones to the new area, transfer the bone group using the transfer, and then each individual one. I find that sometimes if you miss one of these it will stretch. But not always

So, while the tutorials are good. They don't have verbal explanations as to starting each step. When giving tutorials, you need to explain with words what it is your doing, otherwise those who are trying to learn the software won't have a clue what you are doing. Some people learn through explanations not just watching actions on a screen. Telling the viewer which section of the modelling creation you are in is vital, then explain the steps aloud, so viewers can follow along easier. Also, putting links to the software in the description will help new comers to the vtuber scene get the software you mention. So far, every vroid tutorial has the same flaws in it.

Maybe my channel isnt for you... although I dont make tutorials anymore and have been debating on deleting them but kept them around to help people.... but... hmm...
