Not necessarily! You can hold the project in place with your hands as you work, but that often leads to the buckles sliding around, which affects the size and fit. For a quick solution, you can tape your buckles to a solid surface to hold them in place as you work. That usually does the trick, especially for simpler weaves. The larger and more complex the weave, the more you'll want a jig.
