I think this would make beautiful garland strands as well. Or even doorknob hanging-thingy-bobs.

A craft lady I watch takes a thin piece of wire, folds it in half, puts the fabric/ribbon down in the V of the wire and puts the wire open ends through the beads, or whatever item you need to pull it through, like a needle and pull out the opposite side. Works greats.

You are an excellent teacher Mrs. Cog! Making tassels wasn't even on my horizon of things to do but after watching you, I think I will give it a go! Thanks for sharing the part where you had a bit of trouble tying the double knot, it helps to know things don't always go as smooth as we think it might. Thanks for keeping "it real!" I love how you have all the supplies at the ready and how you marked the measurements with washi on the table-GREAT idea! thanks so much for sharing, I need to order some sari ribbon and will use the link you provided. happy tassel making!

Aww, thanks dear. One of these days I will do and show and tell of my mini journal collection. It DOES feel like Christmas... and I am overrun with work now that my rented elves have left my craftroom and returned to the North Pole for their "other" job lolol.

These are so beautiful and look like a lot of fun to make. I enjoyed every part of it. You are a wonderful teacher. I could listen to your kind voice all day. 😊 Just an idea, the black hemp that you cut off after tying the tassel could be used to add a bead or charm to and tie a knot at the bottom of each. They would hang uneven and perfect. Or, you could cut them to even lengths if you wanted. It popped in my head before you cut them off and I thought I would share with you. Love everything you create. Would love to play in your craft room with you watching the bears and other wildlife play. I had 8 deer in my yard this evening. I think there were 3 Mammas and 5 little ones. So adorable when you can watch them run and play. Hugs 🎄🤗🐻🦌🤗🎄

I love the idea of using the hemp to tie the middle section. I make tassels, but have always used jump rings around all the ribbons, and then used either fine fibers or embroidery floss to wind around all of the ribbons together, but I do like this better. Thanks, and they're very pretty!

That was fun! I ordered some white sari ribbon today - that burgandy was calling my name but I wanted white more. I did get some print, but it needs some solid to make it work for me, and dying it is fun! Loved the tassles! I see that I need some large jump rings too! Thanks a bunch!

Thanks for such an informative video! I like the idea of using hemp and beads. I’ve only recently started using sari silk ribbon and I do like it, but one batch I got from the same shop you use I find to be very frustrating. The stitching comes more often than a yard and it doesn’t hold together well at all. It rips apart quite easily. It seems difficult to find decent lengths to use as journal closures. Is that unusual or to be expected? Thanks for any advice you can give.
@MrsCog5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Elaine. I have bought oodles of sari from the same shop. Occasionally there is a skein that is harder to work with. Lois gives excellent customer service, I would suggest you contact her through Etsy. The sari silk is made from remnants of silk from the textile factories in India, where strips of silk are sewn or knotted together, dyed and then twisted into skeins and sent to distributors. No two batches or skeins are ever quite the same and most of the time I find the variety in textures, width and shades of color are most welcome. I hope this helps. :-)
