My mind is blown learning about pulling only one strand off a tag!! Complete scorcery. I just spent so much time measuring and cutting my dmc for a full coverage and it was not fun. But the way you did is a winner for sure. Thank you for sharing.

with weeks dye works i just cut the loops at the end of the shein. i loosen where it is tied through the hole at the top You are able to pull thread off as you demonsrated with other threads . it isn't even necessary to take off the original label. I was shown this method from a fellow stitcher at a retreat. Very easy

Thank you so much for this simple explanation of a way to organize my threads. I am still unwinding the threads from their original cardboard tags every time I need more floss and it was driving me nuts. Have you considered doing a pin stitch how-to video? I definitely need to get a hang of that process. I am new to your flosstube and I appreciate your help!

Like the reviewer below me: mind blown. Knowing that the loose thread at the number end of the DMC skein is the one to pull is brilliant. Who knew? Adriana (below) said it best about the tip on how to pull out one thread from a floss drop: sorcery. Thank you for this video!

Very nice, I did a deep dive on KZbin a few months ago to try and figure this out, and this is exactly what I’ve been doing. If I am going to use 2 threads over 2, I tend to leave the threads longer so I can do a loop start. XOXO

Same here, it it’s dmc or I don’t want as much of an overdyed effect.

I've known this knot from macrame as a Lark's head knot. It is also used in custom framing wire attached to eyelets.

Hi, nice idea but I think that a thread 18 inches is too small for working. Don't you think ? If we want all the thread in the same dimension, unfortunately we must have that

Hi Rachel, thank you for showing us how you put your DMC on floss tags. I typically use and store my DMC on bobbins numerically, and so I interested in knowing how you store your DMC after you have completed your project. Do you just leave them on your floss tags?
@flosstoss221
@flosstoss221 3 жыл бұрын
I put them back on standard tags and store them on one big ring. I save my fancy tags back in the bag until the next project I want them on begins.

I like having the pieces already cut for me - bobbins are different as you wrap the whole skein around them and cut off lengths as you go.

My mind is blown... On a flosstube I just watched this was mentioned (not in detail) but upon trying with my weeks dye floss it wasn't working for me so I searched on youtube and came upon this video and I can't believe it... So for the past 3 years that I have been stitching I never understood everyone using floss drops and it basically looking like Weeks Dye etc sells their flosses. I thought sure it looks cute but how annoying to undo the knot every time, remove the entire floss, separate 1 six-strand section and then take 1 floss from that and then put it back on the floss drop and repeat every time... I did not understand why anyone used those drops. I have been winding my floss onto bobbins which I find nice and easy to use... Now, however... this tutorial has just opened up another can of worms for me... Instead of only collecting needle minders, floss drops shall get collected too lol... oh my... here I go and spend more money... thank you for this tutorial. So exciting!

For the over dyed floss, you dont try to match up the color changes so it's the same when using 2 strands? Does my question make sense? I haven't used over dyed yet but plan on soon. Thanks.
@flosstoss221
@flosstoss221 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Eileen, the floss will still match up with the overdyes - just make sure you pull two strands from the same 6 strand piece. It will make sense once you do it.

Ya know what length they should be so make template to that length, wrap and cut. No reason to unravel all and fold meet, fold meet, then cut.

I realize you sell floss cards ... but I've been trying to make my own. I am using a cricut maker 3 ... but have not figured out something sturdy to make them out of that can be cut on my cricut. Would you be so kind as to tell me what do you make you're floss cards out of? What do you cut them with?

Hi Jenn! That is an older video and I’m no longer making floss cards. I was cutting them on my Cricut Maker and using Cricut brand Kraft Board (I think that’s what they call it?)
