Nanci, this was a very nice tutorial. I actually watched it from start to finish. You had my entire attention. Normally, I just listen to videos as I am working on other things, to help everyone get their watch hours up. I really like your teaching style. It's very calm and soothing. I will be keeping an eye out for you lady! I need to purchase the right fabric first. I have so much quilters cotton only. Are you able to send me a link of the fabric I need to purchase. A solid one. I asked you on the live the other night, but I might have been half asleep. I appreciate all your help. I wish you the best of luck ma'am.

Awe thank you Shayna 💖 any knit fabric would work for bummies! I mostly use the pop! Knits from Joann. I’ll send a link on fb messenger so you can look around. I mainly use cotton interlock but I also use double brushed poly and cotton jersey knit. Other popular options are cotton Lycra, rib knit, bullet, and waffle knit

So the logo stamp came from PaperSushi. You can also get size stamps from them but I got the letters and numbers from Michaels. They’re a bit large for my liking so I’d recommend buying them from PaperSushi as well

This video is so helpful! The waistband explanation was clear and helped me understand where I went wrong when I made my first pair yesterday. When you said you don't use your blade, are you referring to the blade on the serger? Do you line the raw edge up with the end of the presser foot then? It didn't look like you were cutting off extra fabric.
@nanciblank63222 жыл бұрын
I’m so glad my video helped you! Thanks for watching! ☺️ In the beginning, I was afraid to use the blade on the serger because I didn’t want to end up cutting off too much of the fabric 😬 I do use my blade now from time to time. When I don’t use the blade, I do line up the raw edges and put them flush with the side of the machine. I will be honest though, it doesn’t always come out looking crisp and clean doing it that way lol

Hey Nanci, I want to get into sewing baby stuff such as blankets, bibs, burpcloths and bummies. Do you recommend a surger? I just moved to TX from GA and accidentally left my sewing machine in GA. It was a cheap one. Just wondering what you recommend. Love your tutorial! Thanks
@nanciblank63222 жыл бұрын
I would still use a regular sewing machine for things like blankets, bibs, and burp cloths. Because you sew them inside out first and then turn & top-stitch, the serger edge would add bulk to that inside edge. You COULD serge it, just know that there’s gonna be more bill around that inside lip. For clothing or anything that leaves a raw edge I do highly recommend a serger if you’re going to be selling those items. You could get away with a zig zag stitch with a regular machine if it’s for personal use tho. Hope that helps!
