You made this video 3 years ago and I’m sure you never anticipated that years later you’d be an answer to a prayer! I live in Hendersonville NC, not far from Asheville, and we have just been devastated by Hurricane Helene. I’m blessed to have a generator, but we have a shelter-in-place order due to the floods, mudslides, and downed trees and power lines. As a person who wants to get out and help others, I’m going crazy, and this morning I prayed for patience and a way to distract my mind. I tethered my ipad to my iPhone (we have no Internet) and your video came up, and I have never used my serger due to fear-of-threading. LOL. So thank you! As I am now threaded and serging away!!

I just bought this serger. My husband had bought me a 5 spool Singer serger last Christmas and it was WAY to intimidating for me. I packed it back up and returned it. I saw a video on KZbin about how easy this one is to thread. Thank you for taking the time to demonstrate how to thread it.

Thank you, Angelina! I am not a sewist. I have always gotten so frustrated even with the simplest sewing machines. But as a weaver, I learned I really should have a serger to finish off my hand-woven fabrics, so I picked up a used 1034D today (based in part on your recommendation) You made threading this SO EASY, I'm wondering why everyone says its' so hard.

I have this serger. I had an old one for @ 35 years until I couldn't get blades to fit it anymore. I just wanted to make a suggestion. If the machine doesn't make loops after threading, it is nearly always bc the lower Looper thread is over or under the upper Looper thread at the final threading step. The manual mentions but does not make it clear exactly where the threads cross. The threads won't sort themselves out or slide around the hardware of the little fingers that have the holes that the threads go through. This is simply crucial though threading instructions never mention where the threads go exactly after they go through the holes. It is easy to get them in the wrong place as we use the hand wheel to move the hardware to see where the holes are in the fingers. Clear closeups of the final areas help as do magnifier or clear diagrams. I've also noticed nobody mentions the position of the lever that raises and lowers the cutter. The diagram on the machine isn't clear (should say up/down or as you said engage/disengage). This serger really doesn't require an engineer or mechanic, but it could have better instructions and diagrams bc that is the reason ppl are intimidated by sergers. Especially, when it gets to the end of the threading, it leaves us hanging, though this is usually the cause of the lack of loops, snapped threads, and broken needles. Thank you for your video.

I had to watch it literally four times with the instructions in hand and rethread the machine for an hour while inventing new words.... And THEN I GOT IT. Thank you so much for being straight forward and clear. 💛 The line of stitching down the edge of my test seam looks so good I could cry! If I had to sit through repeats of a life story about how grandma used to knit socks for the church choir and thats how the presenter got into sewing, while cursing this new serger and watching the upper threads break every time, I'd've gone completely crazy 🤣🤣🤣.

Thank you so much! The important point seems to be that you have to re-thread the machine from the beginning each time a thread breaks even if it's just one of them. Also, threads must be threaded in order, why I don't know, but after repeated attempts to re-thread the lower looper only to have it break off every time, I followed your video to the letter and much to my surprise, it worked! Again, thank you sooo much!!

I come back to this guide every time I have to thread my serger! You're right, it is pretty easy, but I still need a reminder so I'm sure I don't screw it up. Thank you for this video!

This has been the most helpful video. I was so lost when I read the instructions. I've had my serger for about 3 months now and haven't been able to use it because I didn't know how to thread it. Thanks to your video, I am able to start using it. Thanks for being so clear and detailed on your video.

I bought my serger a few years ago and was too intimidated to use it. I watched her tutorial. I was able to thread my serger the first time with no problem. You made it extremely easy to understand. And you went nice and slow and showed every step. Thank you so much.

I got this exact model for Christmas as my first serger, since I’m starting to branch out into sewing clothes, and this video is so helpful! I’ve never threaded a serger before, and only used one a few times in college theatre costuming, but I’ve wanted one for years and my mom saw a used one for sale, so now I have to actually figure out how to use it! It seemed really daunting until this video, but your explanation makes it easy. Thank you!
