Hello, I am your customer of bome translator pro software. I use the software mainly to convert midi automation designed in ableton into serial data that I send to an arduino to move motors. today i have to keep the mac connected to the arduino to send the data. I'd like to do without the mac. with the bomebox could I record the automations built in ableton and send them to arduino without having connected the mac? so as to have some sort of standalone device? Thank you

Hi, BomeBox will support serial ports so you could connect your Arduino to your BomeBox and it will act as a serial port and the set up your project on BomeBox to send to the Arduino instead. Of course Ableton will still need in the mix somewhere since it is generating the original messages. Of course, audio would have to take a different path. Reach out to us on our forum below if you have further questions. forum.bome.com Steve CaldwellBome Customer Care

What major hardware revisions has this product gone through, or is it basically the same hardware as from 8 years ago?

Thanks for asking! The hardware design proved to be extremely reliable, and while we have added major features via new firmware versions, the hardware has only seen minor changes over the years. More major features are in the pipeline for the firmware. Is there anything you'd like to see in hardware for a possible BomeBox 2?

@@Bome Having used the Bomebox for stage & studio very happily, I do have a top 10 list of hardware extras for the next generation BomeBox (sorted by importance): 1. A dedicated USB connection to the host computer (not only USB power), 2. at least a second USB host port, 3. a fader and a click button for various purposes including PANIC (see Loopop Plus 3), 4. assignable footswitch and expression pedal inputs, 5. more DIN MIDI ins and outs - maybe on the back of a rackmount unit, 6. an extra chip to handle RTP MIDI, 7. a programmable LED (or how about a 2x16 LCD to display user text :-) , 8. a CV input jack, 9. a MIDI to CV output jack, 10. and seriously: an HDMI output to display scrollable RTF text documents, like the Blackmagic Design Hyperdeck Shuttle HD, so the BomeBox could be used as a MIDI-controllable prompter. Cheers and a happy 2025 🙂

@@andreas-wismann Thank you very much for the fantastic top 10 list! And sorry for the late reply. 6 of them are planned for BomeBox 2. We generally don't go into details for planned features or products, but we may announce something more specific at the NAMM show next week...

@@Bome Kann's kaum erwarten! Macht weiter so - die BomeBox ist praktisch konkurrenzlos, da müssen Andere erst mal hinkommen.
