Hi there all... Thank you so much for this great video!!! I would like to ask you if you know (with the same all parameters) and using the ABW driver my black and white images start to come out with blue or green casts... I've been printing incredible and excellent black and white prints and now suddenly my prints comes out with blue or green tinted... same printer, same laptop, same software EPL, same images, never change nothing, color profiles etc... nothing.... I've change all the cartridges and always use all original cartridges and the problem persists. try with my son´s computer installing the printer controllers and its the same... all come with that horrible tones... I don't know how to fix this.... I've tried to install and reinstall all software and drives and doesn't fix anything... im think im going crazy right now with no solution immediately... Please anyone could help me please??? Im running with Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.6, Epson Print Layout 1.5.5, Driver version 2.0 Epson SureColor SC-P600 All images loaded with ProPhoto RGB.... as usual!!! Thank you all so much!!! best regards from Portugal... Rui Miguel Cunha www.ruimiguelcunha.com p.s. - Sorry my English is not so good... ehehe

Excellent informative video. My only point of disagreement, from over 25 years of digital printing experience, all on Epson printers, is never to use the high speed option as it is an open invitation to banding.

Nah, takes lot longer to talk about it than do it (seconds)

Yes, the first one or two images will be a bit of trial and error, but after that you'll know what to expect from the printer. In the end, you're probably really only dealing with 1 or 2 options (Neutral & Dark, or Dark & Darker, depending on your printer and personal preferences)

Lucid Imaging did a test (genuine inksets for both) Piezography Pro vs ABW and Piezography was far superior in terms of neutrality, tonality and detail.

This is excellent and addresses many questions I had. Do you make a small print, say a 4 x 5, until you get the settings correct and then make a much larger one. If you make a small print and get things "just right" will this carry over onto a larger print. I really like this video-thanks for posting it.

That's right - the size of the print makes nil difference to the tonal range in the image.

I have an old but a good 7600 and I do not seem to have the ABW driver. Does anyone know if there is an ABW driver download that will work with the 7600? Thanks!

Does the advance B&W driver use any color inks or just the blacks like when using a RIP?

Thank you for this excellent tutorial! However, using this technique, here is my problem: if you don't use epson paper, how can you find the proper "epson paper setting" setting suitable for the non-epson paper you plan to use? I.e. what is the hahnemule paper corresponding to the "Premium luster photo paper" setting? Indeed, it is not always obvious to find the epson paper you'd want in shops...

I'm surprised nobody answered this, and I assume you've got it figured out. For the later readers, Hahnemuhle and other manufacturers tell in the print specifications of their paper, per printer type, what is the corresponding brand (Epson) paper. Newest Epson printers allow you to save your own medium (paper) type settings.

Hi @@mennodv , I wrote this comment four years ago, and I was quite a noob in photo printing. Now things have changed a little bit for me, I found a way. In fact for each photo paper product you will buy, there should be an ICC profile available for download for your specific printer model (check for example here: www.hahnemuehle.com/en/digital-fineart/fineart-media/glossy-fineart/p/Product/show/5/21.html --> click on download, and then specify your printer brand and model. Then install it on your computer). Then when you print in Lightroom or Photoshop, you should specify that you want to use this profile when printing on this specific paper. It is rather easy in fact.

With Epson's latest version update, the options are changed just enough to be confusing, especially if this is the 1st time you've tried this method. With any settings I tried, the "Ink" type never greyed out, making you question if you were really going to get the advanced BW driver. In addition, if you chose Roll Paper, Exhibition Canvas Gloss or Satin, Advanced BW Photo mode is greyed out. However it is not with Exhibition Canvas Natural Gloss or Satin. Could you address these concerns please?

Terrible this option just gives me warm, light toned images. I get much better results using my icc profile

They couldn’t have made it anymore complicated if they tried. Worse than the CADD software I use. Click this, click that, click this. 🤔 I’ll pass. According to this video it takes 9 minutes to make a print - and that doesn’t include image alterations.
