My Grandpa died in the 90s. He played the diatonic accordion. I took it out of it´s box yesterday. It´s so much fun! I wish there was more learning content for it. I almost got the melody down. Thank you.

Cool lesson! Just bought literally the same accordion from some old farmer here in Nebraska. Wanted to play one for ages.

I'm a Falmouth-based melodeon beginner as well! Maybe we should fill a pub with noise one day.

Just picked up one in GC. These boxes are rare in my country, this is the only two row I've seen up for sale. Thanks for the tutorial. I really enjoy it.

Nicely done! For Christmas this year I got my first diatonic according (Hohner, C/F) and your video is an excellent tutorial for my first Sea Shanty. Arr!

Thanks for that Paul, it’s saved me the trouble of trying to figure it out myself. Well played. Love your tutorials. 😃👍

Hohner pokerworks are really aesthetically pleasing instruments, it's such a shame Hohner don't make them in D/G any longer! will have to keep an eye for a second hand one in good nick.

Sounds awesome! I wish I had that kind of accordion)

Thanks Paul. Brilliant. Okay so I now have my Hohner Poker dot in GC complete with three volumes of tutor books which are extremely thorough. The book says to rest your right thumb on the edge of the keyboard just as you do and without using the thumb strap. I tried using the thumb strap but found I was limited. I do not want to fall into bad habits so what is ideal? Thanks. Pete

Nice clear explanation managed to pick up a halting version the tune without bases after 10-15mins. Bit more practice and then I can try the other hand

I've got a Campbells "happyhome" brand melodeon. On the right the valves are visible on the left it has 4 hinged valves on the front and one on the rear. I need help!

Great tutorial! I was close to buying a similar box a few years back. Convinced myself there was no way I’d ever figure out the “in out” notes thing. Struggling with a classical guitar instead...

Hi Paul. Is your Hohner there normal or dry tuned?

Can I play this on a GC melodian using exactly the same fingerings but of course it will be in a different key?

Yes you can.

I have the EXACT same accordion but it's like 70 years old. Can they be tuned? Mine doesn't sound anything like yours even though I'm pressing the right keys. It's like half an octave off.

I think they can be tuned. I also got an old one. It seems ok. I try to find out if can get rid of some light rost. Didn't pay much though and I really like the instrument.
