This is so interesting. I'm not a dancer, but I find a ballet dancers life so intriguing. Seems like a lot of stress for such a young person, but I'm sure its worth it in the end.

That was an amazing story, to come off an injury and still have your ability acknowledged, and how modest of you to keep the apprenticeship under wraps! I'm not sure many people would be able to keep it in at sixteen-ish!

@rhythmicelegance46707 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing your success story! The journey is not as straightforward as some ppl might think. What a splendid secret to keep until it was time to reveal! It calls to mind a favourite quote: “I have grown to love secrecy. It seems to be the one thing that can make modern life mysterious or marvelous to us. The commonest thing is delightful if only one hides it.” -The Picture of Dorian Grey Btw, I am from Stamford; it’s where my parents settled when they arrived in the United States. I didn’t know SAB sent dancers to CT to perform. :)

I wish there was a college that accepted ppl who wanna start ballet late and you can basically learn the basic and intermediate stuff.

I have to say, I have no relationship with ballet but my dancer friends have made me very interested. I was always wondering how the transition from company dancer to professional happens because not many people talk about it. It's really nice to see someone talking clearly about it!

These videos need to continue! I loved hearing this story. I love hearing about all your stories about when you were at SAB and NYCB 😂💕 You're absolutely amazing, Katie! You're the number one youtube channel I go to when I need tips, hacks, anything! Have you done a video about how to overcome injury? I recently hurt my ankle, and going on pointe hurts. I try not to overwork, but I really want to get good at pointe work! Got any tips?

I danced with Mireille Hassenboehler of Houston Ballet when I was 8-9 years old in Nutcracker. Simon Ball too, he played the Cavalier. My director of the school was Melinda Roy, who performed at NYCB in the late 70s and early 80s.

Hi Katie, Thanks for the video. I'd love to hear more about how your family adapted to your ballet life. I know you have mentioned that your mother moved up with you to NYC while your father continued to work. That level of support is just amazing! Have you known any dancers who didn't have the sort of support network you had? How did that impact their experiences? If you were planning your own ballet school what resources would you make available to your students that might not have existed for you? Thank you for sharing your stories!

Are you familiar with the new protocol of parallel calf rise's . Australia has been implementing them for years and ROH is now implementing them and supposedly ABT has too... It's supposed to help prevent ankle and feet injuries. The studies that were done in Australia had amazing outcomes. Just thinking about your injury and wondered if more calf strengthening would have helped to prevent. Also wondered if would it be beneficial for your students..
@eleanorsimpson41717 жыл бұрын
I'm interested in this too. A question, though, have you actually found the research that was referred to during world ballet day? I can't find the original study but would love to read it.
