Fun fact, what you call "tendus" for me are "dégagés", and what you call "glissés" or " dégagés" for me are "petits battements" and I'm French and was trained in France my whole life! It's funny how terminology can be different from one country to another, or even sometimes from a teacher to another ! Anyway, you barres are AMAZING, so thank you so much for everything. I can't wait to see what the futur has in store for you ! Take care !
@francessmith404 жыл бұрын
Funny you say that, because I just moved from the US to France and I'm dealing with the opposite that you did! When the teacher says tendu during another combination, I get so confused, I'm like since when was there a tendu in this combo, and then I'm like ohh the other tendu, she means straighten. Haha!

Do you have any tips on how to keep my turn out when doing coupé and retiré? I started only 4 years ago (adult beginner) and I'm struggling. Thanks Katie ☺️
@aballetgal67884 жыл бұрын
@@Poppy- I know I’m not Katie (well, I mean that is my name but...) but it’s important to turn out using your inner thighs and always think of pulling your knee back.
@Poppy-4 жыл бұрын
@@aballetgal6788 I know, but it's really hard to keep up the turn out and the equilibrium at once. I had two knee surgery, one each, because my knees were inward. I just found out last year that my right thigh is one inch shorter than the other. That doesn't help either for some movements.
@maddie82814 жыл бұрын
@@Poppy- hi! i just wanted to let you know that Katie has some turnout improvement videos that help you build the strength to turnout better :) i recommend them
@Poppy-4 жыл бұрын
@@maddie8281 thank you. If you are talking about the barre "with no barre", I'm doing those too. Love them. They are though but so much more efficient then most of my studio classes. As an adult, the teacher does not expect us to really improve our turnout. Whereas, I'm doing this (ballet) as a hobby, but with the goal of improving an increasing my abilities. 😉
